(43) Yin and Yang. Bonnie and Clyde. Bert and Ernie. + links

By Sati. Friday, September 7, 2012
  • There were many shocking things that happened lately. Clint Eastwood talking to an empty chair. Shia LaBeouf reportedly delivering good performance in Lawless. Amy Poehler and Will Arnett splitting up. But the most shocking thing for me was - as I just finished season 2 of Luther - that John and Alice didn't bang. My God. I'd do this with her after her speech about sharks and I'm straight(ish). Sometimes I just want to punch John in the face. I was watching that scene and I actually yelled at my laptop. I really hope Alice will return because passing on that and spending your time rescuing adolescent hooker is just ridiculous.
  • Also my jaw actually dropped when his hand got nailed to the table and then he just stood up, slowly yanking his hand free. Idris Elba is Superman. If a bus hit him, he probably wouldn't even notice and the bus would get smashed just from the force of collision.
  • This is amazing - there is new viral clip from Prometheus, promoting the release of DVD on October the 8th and yes, YES! it features Idris - you can watch it here. My God, that man...I want to be whatever ship he pilots. Still, I think the promotion would go better if they showed us glimpses of naked Theron, perhaps in the room without gravity a la Barbarella? Not that it happens in Director's cut. Though, who knows?
  • I'm retaking my exam on Tuesday. I can't stress enough how horribly this thing will go. I'm less prepared then I was the first time, which I still claim should be when I passed this thing as I knew stuff. It's not even that if I fail now I will have to pay my university money for the 3rd try and I'd much rather wipe my ass with that money than give it to them of all people - it's about me really not wanting to learn this shit again.
  • The blog will be on hiatus until Tuesday. I'm shutting down everything - imagine the scene where McGregor tries to kick his habit in Trainspotting and that is what my next 3 days will look like - making a bucket of coffee and learning the shit out of those two books. I think I'll burn them if I finally pass this thing, whenever it happens.
  • I had pretty nice birthday celebration - went out, got cool gifts, got really drunk and watched Snatch, as I always do on my birthday.
  • I saw few movies this past week, mostly rewatches of Doubt and Mystic River as I needed screencaps from them for various blogathons etc. and of Luther, because well 1. It was Idris Elba's birthday 2. Every day is good for Luther, but I also watched Tucker and Dale vs Evil thanks to this lovely article by Scott and it was really hilarious. So much funnier than Shaun of the Dead, which is funny and overall a good movie but is also quite overrated.
  • So Lars Von Trier is making this porno of his and he hired Shia LaBeouf. He will have actual sex in this movie. Who on Earth would wanna watch that?!
  • There are rumours that Nolan is planning to release The Dark Knight Rises Director's Cut. I don't really know what to make of this, as he never releases director cuts, but I would really love to see it. Apparently there is 40 minutes of additional footage and I just pray it's mostly Hathaway.
  • Gustav has a cold. He woke me up today by jumping on my pillow and sneezing on my face. Then he started to dug up the flowers on the balcony. I walked in there and there was just dirt everywhere and flowers hanging from his face. My mother was maaaad.
  • Look! Look how cute!:

  4. Tucker and Dale vs Evil was really great, good to see you loved it. I'll have to watch Shaun of the Dead again soon, I barely remember it.
That Dark Knight Rises rumour is really interesting, 40 more minutes of footage!? Wow.. exciting / scary if true haha.

    Classic Rebel Wilson those GIF's!

  5. This post reminded me of why I love your blogging so much. In addition to being super smart and film-savvy, you have a wickedly awesome sense of humor. I've never watched Luther, but I loved this line: "...that John and Alice didn't bang. My God. I'd do this with her after her speech about sharks and I'm straight(ish)." "Straight(ish)" is a term that should be used more often, I think. *LOL*

And when I was in college and grad. school, there were many times I'd rather wipe my ass with my money than pay the university more tuition. *Sigh*

I'm sorry you're having trouble with that one particular exam/class. While the whole Trainspotting thing made me laugh out loud, I know how rough that can be. Sending positive thoughts your way.

    Thanks for the link! :)

    1. Thank you! :) Straight(ish) is definetly underused!

Yeah, I think hatred for university is something that unites all of us :) Managed to pass the exam today, I'm so happy though yesterday I was going a bit insane with worry ^^

      You're very welcome!

    2. Glad you passed the exam. I dropped back by this post because I was trying to remember what it was you said about Luther than made me laugh so much. Now that you've got me hooked on the show and I have some context. ;-)

I just watched Season 2, Episode 1 -- the one with Alice's little speech about snorkeling with sharks. Or were you talking about a different scene? Anyway, it didn't exactly make me want to "do" Alice, but she is definitely a fascinating, albeit fucked up, individual. ;-) It also cracked me up when she mentioned she hadn't had any sex because she was surrounded by women in the high security nuthouse -- "Not that I mind per se, but there are a lot of mental illness issues here." Oh, Lord!!

And they finally had Idris take off his shirt in this episode! THANK YOU, BBC!

    3. Thank you!

The scene I really adored was the one where Luther eats an apple, then hides the key and throws it over the fence. Alice then finds it and smirks - it's so clear how much he cares about her but this is all he can do about it for now. The way that scene was executed really impressed me.

Her speech in the mental institution was fantastic, she really commands the screen just by being there and speaking - the dialogues are outstanding in that series.

Oh God, that was wicked hot. I had to rewind and see it again to make sure I didn't dream that :)

  7. hahahahah Rebel Wilson. Brilliant zoom there.

I saw the Idris Elba smoking thing and died. There should be a funner, and sexier film with him and Fassy in it, no offence to Prometheus. Or or, make Fassy Bond and make Elba the villain (I think I just killed my ovaries).

    1. Oh, I'm all for it! Except I'd be on team villain then ;)

  8. Gosh, I would DIE for an extra 40min of Batman, please God make it happen! I hope it's a lot of Selina too, but I wished it would include something that makes that love triangle more intense and effective. Because, like I said previously, that's my only issue with the movie. And more Alfred vs. Fox.

Bale looked sooo good with that haircut and beard. too good. young and deceptively harmless, right? and that is great advice haha...

Good luck with your exam, Sati! And poor Gustav, but they look so cute when they sneeze... :)

    1. Oh I miss Alfred vs Fox! It would be so cool if we got DC after all.

That really is a great advice, though I'm kinda hoping he won't follow it - that recording of his rant is so freaking funny, I must have listen to it 10 times the day it leaked ^^

He really does, I can't help but laugh, one day he will bite me for all of my horrible reactions to his sneezing/falling/slipping :)

  9. Aaaah, yes - thanks for the link! I'm glad you liked my rambling review.

Very interesting b-day tradition, might have to follow suit. Though, I don't drink, so I'll replace that use crystal meth or eat a whole bottle of Flintstones vitamins. One of those.

Oh, and goodness on the Elba appreciation post! Now I'm straight. Ish.

    1. To be honest I'm not sure which one is worse idea - meth or bottle of vitamins? :) How about celebrating with some good old fashioned campy silly entertaining movie? That way you won't end up dying! :)

      Haha, mission accomplished! ^^

  16. Thanks for the link love, dearest. I LOVE your devotion to the gorgeous Idris. Hey can't say I blame you girl! When I read you said 'Idris is Superman' I almost fell off my chair, man wouldn't that be nice?? Though I'd love to see him as James Bond first :D :D

Ooooh I LOVE that GIF of Christian Bale, and TOO FUNNY!!! I think he's mellowed out quite a bit. I just read a news article that he invited an entire family to LA for this young boy who had cancer. What a nice guy!

    1. I wouldn't mind seeing him as Bond either :) I don't know if the world is progressive enough though, heard that he was considered to be Doctor Who but he wasn't chosen only because of the color of his skin O_o

I read about that, he is so sweet, love the fact he doesn't really brag about this stuff he does and behaves like a regular human being.
