(71) ...like Maisie, my mother read the books + links

By Sati. Friday, March 22, 2013
  • Just when I thought season 3 can't possibly look better, HBO keeps releasing all these promos. The recent one, All of Us has a glimpse into the season's most important event and the bath scene! It means it's happening! oh God!, my ovaries!!! Melisandre appears to be using the oh-shit-my-magic-is-not-working-let's-use-my-slutty-ways approach again. And whoever chooses the music for promos - Jesus Christ, what brilliance. TRON Lagacy track, Nine Inch Nails and Sigur Ros.
  • The closer to the premiere the harder it is too take all of those clips. How I wish they used House of Cards approach here and just released the whole thing at once - granted, I wouldn't do anything for the whole day but watch it but the way it works now is just agonizing. On the other hand the ratings for the show each Sunday will be fucking insane.
  • This week there was a very special Emmy panel with Game of Thrones cast, the creators of the show and George Martin himself. I was shocked how few of the cast (the present one) read the books - only Kit Harrington read the series, while Michelle Fairley and Sophie Turner said they have a system and they only read their character's chapters. Maisie Williams said her mom read the books and told her what happened to Arya and then when Nikolaj answered last this is what happened:
  • The whole panel was really hilarious and awesome to watch (you can see it on youtube). It was awesome seeing Sophie and Maisie so sisterly, since in the show they really neglected the relationship between the two and Michelle Fairley's laughter is so sincere and warm. Martin said there will be few people sitting on the Iron Throne before the series is over and that he knows who will sit there in the end, which is kinda huge because he implied that the throne will still exist. Peter Dinklage was hilarious - it's amazing how charismatic he is, he talks and you just listen. My favorite part was when he said he'd like to play Daenerys Targaryen and did a sample of what it would look like:
  • So this is what mister Martin is doing instead of writing the books. I really liked his metaphor on how he feels he is creating the railroad and locomotive is catching up to him. I'm relieved though, ever since I heard he already told the show runners what will happen next. Also after seeing the gifset below, I'm pretty sure Margaery is not dying in the series...ever. Natalie Dormer has such a charming presence about her. Can't wait to see Margaery winning the hearts of people in King's Landing.
  • As soon as I saw Jon Snow's dumb expression when he sees Ygritte in the cave in one of the promos I knew something glorious will happen on tumblr. And it did:
  • Someone should give Charles Dance an award for existing
  • I've been making lots of Game of Thrones edits lately, people really seem to like Khaleesi one
  • Khaleesi and Drogon are doing commercials now.
  •  It's been 9 months and this still makes me laugh.
  • There is a shitstorm on the set of Jane's Got a Gun. After Fassbender dropped out, Lynne Ramsey, the director of the movie left the project on the first day of production. Now Jude Law, who singed up after Fass dropped left too. This is one of the most unprofessional sets I've ever heard of. They should just shoot the documentary on the clusterfuck on the set instead of actual movie (if they ever actually manage to do that)
  • Enlightened gets canceled yet Girls goes on. This is the world we live in.
  • Bates Motel was pretty awful. Vera Farmiga made it worth seeing, as her performance was incredible but Freddie Highmore is so cringeworthy he makes the character of Norman Bates completely redundant. Also there were so many laughable situations in the show and all that teenage lovin' was just unbearable.
  • People went nuts this week over the photo of Tom Hardy with a puppy. I propose you go nuts over similar photo, but with Hugh Jackman instead.
  • I still do not know nor care about Spring Breakers. Though I read the soundtrack has Lynchian feel to it and I'm all for that.
  • I've been watching Spooks season 7. Oh my God. I also saw the picture below yesterday and I just stared at it for 15 minutes. On some particularly insane level of my subconsciousness I was hoping if I stared long enough he will just APPEAR.
  • There are rumours the wait for next Bond movie can be as long as 3 years. Hurry the fuck up cause you need to replace Craig with either Mr. Elba or Mr. Armitage
  • This week I read Thorin bathed in the river in The Hobbit book. What the fuck Peter Jackson?! How could you not film that?! I pay for 3D and you don't shoot that scene? Lee and Richard better be naked in the river in next one, sponging and everything.
  • I'm told it's Spring now? Well, all there is outside is snow and ice. It's like I'm beyond the wall and Gustav is my miniature direwolf.
  • I had no time for any movies this week. I eat, I sleep, I shower, I write my dissertation, read Storm of Swords, drool over Armitage and watch Game of Thrones trailers repeatedly. This is all.
  • I finally installed Photoshop on my new computer and made tons of edits for next week's posts and obviously the new header, because once I start there is no stopping me before 5 AM.
  • Have you hovered over the dragon on the sidebar yet? Go ahead and behold the magic!
  • Lammy Awards 2013 has started and my blog filled with insane and more often than not disturbing and perverted ramblings is eligible in eight categories. You can vote for nominations to be selected out of submitted blogs by clicking on for your consideration banner on the side bar. I already chose and I voted for flixchatter and twodollarcinema pretty much everywhere I could. Not only are their blogs awesome, they comment on almost every single dumb post of mine with so much humor and understanding :) Mettel, Nikhat, Brittani, Fogs and Alex were pretty prominent in my choices too. I'd like to thank everyone for continuing to come by and comment and for all the kind words written about me and my blog in the submission process.
  • For some reason I haven't even seen the trailer for Trance yet but that photo of Rosario Dawson reminded me of something...
  • The way Christian Bale looks in new David O. Russel movie is just horrifying.
  • That new Lana Del Rey photoshoot and behind the scenes of it is amazing

    2. The use of the Still version of "Something I Can Never Have" definitely worked on one of those trailers.

I read more recently about the mess of Jane's Got A Gun. It seems like Lynne Ramsay had left days before shooting was to begin over some various issues involving budget, contractual stuff, and final cut privileges. I love Lynne Ramsay though I really want to know what happened from her words before I can make any judgment.

      1. It was awesome!

I feel bad for Portman, it seems Oscar curse got to her. Though if the movie ultimately gets made...well, let's just say everyone is talking about it now so that's a free promotion at least.

      2. The movie is currently filming. The writer has been tweeting about it. Whoever replaces Law will just film his bits later on I'm guessing.

      3. I read that production moved along, still I don't envy the chaos this set must be.

    3. Oh yeah, the bathing in the river, if it happens, will probably happen in the next one. They need to climb down off that rock we left them on first. There is a river at the bottom of it - they all bathe though, be warned. I feel like I wanna tell you every little thing Thorin does in the book, but I won't - spoilers ;)
I would really like to hear why Lynne Ramsay didn't show up, more so than the actors. Shit must be going down on that set, and if the director is meant to be calm and in control. I do hope she's alright, and there's nothing major wrong, but if there isn't, then that is just so freakin' unprofessional. The film will suffer, I feel sorry for the crew.
Good luck with the Lammys!!!! :D

      1. Really? My God! Another reason to wait for the movie :P I heard about the ending of his journey, fuck, I'm gonna cry like an idiot :(

I think it's some sort of dispute over the project, but the fact she drops out on the first day of production is really lame, way to let down all the people involved in the project.

        Thank you so much! :)

    4. Kit Harrington's a good actor for reading the entire series maybe that's why he's so emotionless because he knows he doesn't have the best storyline?

*reads about the dragon, scrolls up, tests the dragon* AWESOME *scrolls down again, loses her place, reads some facts twice*

These should be my second LAMMYs but I was a bit lazy last time around. This time I've done good I think, I also checked your blog quite many times as it still is one of my favorites. :)

      Thanks for the link!

      1. Actually many people and me included think Snow is the most important character in the whole series. It's to do with his bloodline. If I were to bet, I'd bet he is the one on the Throne in the end. Harrington is sweet enough, but they really should get someone more charismatic to play the part.

Glad you liked the Dragon :P I hope you'll win for the Alphabet blogathon!

      2. Snow's character in the first book is not my favorite, yet, it's difficult to get Kit's face out of my mind when I read. It's bad a bit that all the faces of the actors are now in my head and I can't imagine them differently. Still, first book's favorite is Khaleesi so far but maybe Snow's storyline gets a bit better and thrilling at some point. The mom-mystery is most likely the key or something - have tried really hard to avoid any spoilers beyond book 2.

I hope the blogathon win as well ! (A)

      3. Oh he is far from my favorites too, but I think he would be a fine king - just and kind.

I actually like that as I read I see and hear actors from the show, plus there are so many characters there that are so far only in books, so it's still a lot to imagine :)

I don't think the clues to his parents were noticeable in the books, but Martin gave the fans a clue, equation that ended with J. He also asked the creators of the show who was Jon's mother and if they answered wrong he wouldn't like them to do the show. So it's a big deal and I'm sure it will be addressed in the final books.

      4. I like imagining most of the characters.. it's just difficult to re-imagine those actors/characters I don't like in the roles. Though, I'm sure Kit could be worse.

Hah. You have done your research regarding GoT. I don't want to read about it since I want to finish the series before I dig deep into its world. :D

      5. Oh yeah he definitely could be worse :) But it's nice the way it is, so many funny tumblr stuff is happening because of him ^^

You definitely have some time - I'm not sure Martin will wrap up the series before 2020 :/

Oh Dinklage is brilliant. Natalie Dormer was in Neverwhere. I quite like her too.
I'm pretty sure you can put any caption to Jon Snow pictures and it would make sense because he has just one expression.

Haha poor Bale. Anyways, he's probably going to have long, flowy hair as Moses. Biblical Bale.

Ooo dragon! This is why yours is the Ryan Gosling of blogs.

      1. Yeah, it's like 70% of my life now :P

Dormer is so awesome, to this day her Anne Bolyen is my favorite depiction of that character. She may not be beautiful, but God she has exact feel of clever manipulation and feminine charm to her.

There is this moment in season 3 that is going to destroy tumblr with parody materials and memes.

Glad you like the dragon! Oh my, that compliment is just the best! ^^ <3

    8. I am more than halfway through A Storm of Swords and finally staring to realize glimpse of various events this season. Makes you even more excited, doesn't it? Loved their Emmy panel too. Peter Dinklage killed it. :)

And off course, you have my vote for the Lammies in more than one category. Good Luck !!

      1. It's such a great book because there is something gigantic happening in every single storyline. Unfortunately, books 4 and 5 aren't quite as powerful, I hope book 6 will be a step up.

Dinklage has such a good rapport with cast and the fans, he is just delightful to listen to.

        Thank you so much!

    9. They've really been going above and beyond with GOT's marketing! Like I've said over at Mettel's, I couldn't get past 15 min of Bates Motel, it was boring me to death.

Natalie Dormer does have such a elegant presence, I've loved her since Casanova and the Tudors!

      1. I was cringing through 25 minutes of the episode, then I paused it and moved on to GoT trailer which I saw like 30 times in a row, so I can't say Bates Motel was riveting at all :P

Oh, she was such a terrific Anne Bolyen, one of my fav TV performances.

    10. okay, so another comment because I just followed your link to Bale's look, and OMG he looks.... bad. Geez. He's fat and bald, damn it!!!

Oh Nikolaj ... so, so gorgeous. Then I scroll down further and fell off my chair once again. I've already suggested RA for Bond several times in my blog, obviously the Bond producers aren't reading my posts!! :D What?? Thorin bathing in the river??! Seriously it'd be a crime indeed if PJ didn't stay true to the book, we should start a petition to demand that in Part II or III, Sati!!

I think Bond producers are insane - they have this man on their land and they don't cast him? He is so brilliant playing spies!

That's what I hear, apparently it should happen directly after that scene that was the last we saw them in the first part. If it happens I'm gonna throw additional 0,5 to the score for the happiness that would give us all :P
