(74) She does have astonishing eyes. + links

By Sati. Friday, April 12, 2013

  • How is Gwendoline Christie not mentioned in the main titles? How?
  • I don't think she said a single word through that fight yet it was one of the better acted moments of the series. The look on her face, as if she was scolding Jaime for something as foolish as challenging her, growing irritated by his feeble attempts and anticipating his moves, still not dismissing him and seeing him as her worthy opponent. And all of that with her eyes. She does have astonishing eyes.
  • It's a shame Game of Thrones doesn't have its own channel. They could do romantic comedy series based on adventures of Jaime and Brienne. Sure, there will be some rot and puss in near future, but the horror and screams aside it's all really cute.
  • Richard Armitage doesn't know what a meme is.
  • Dear Cutie Pie. Meme is something that makes Sati laugh. A LOT. Like this:
  • We will get to see the scene between Olenna and Tywin soon! OMG! She will even snap Tywin's quill!
  • Are we calling non-book readers Unsullied now? Alright.
  • Apparently there are some people who are actually...defending Theon? While that's astonishing what's disgusting are all the Jaime vs Theon threads. Jaime has a code, a twisted one, but he has one. Theon is a treacherous little weasel. Add to that Jaime is fun to watch, while whenever I see Theon I want to punch him in the face. That said, Alfie Alen is doing tremendous job with this character.
  • Nikolaj Coster Waldau was a guest on Conan this week. Nobody bothered to gif the appearance (seriously, people? / though as I'm publishing this the gifs are in rendering my 15 minutes in photoshop pointless) and seeing how I made 20 gifs this week already and I'm exhausted...let me just use words and gif only the funniest part. He told the story about how on AFI gala he wanted to pee really bad, so he went to the bathroom and everything was occupied. There he saw that one stall wasn't locked so he barged in and bumped into someone who was there...:
  •  Also, give this man an Emmy. Not only is he awesome, but apparently because of Jaime's prisoner status this season they hosed him down with mud every day. The man had mud in his ass crack. Just...give him an Emmy.
  • Playing around with Photoshop is awesome. But it's a bit less awesome when you are done making gif for Somewhere review and you realize, shit, that was supposed to be a collage. So you all forgive me if I break the tradition of 4-image opening graphics for this one.
  • Following Ruth's recommendation I saw North and South this week:
  • I've also been watching Spooks 8:
  • I have no idea how I'm still alive. That scene where he carried her in his arms? Oh my God. It's like I left my usual batshit mental state and had it replaced temporarily with even dirtier, more disturbing one.
  • When I saw torture scenes in Spooks I actually yelled STOP HURTING HIM!! This is like Syriana all over again.
  • Why is The Big Bang Theory not on every week? Do they realize how annoying those breaks are? There will be two-week long gap between Ep 8 and 9 of Game of Thrones and I'm pretty sure the emotional distress it will cause is good grounds to sue.
  • We did get new Modern Family and Parks and Rec this week, both quite funny. Sick Ron and Ron attempting to eat banana were amazing. Also - I love Donna.
  • So as you probably guessed, this week I saw Somewhere. I remember only seeing a bit of it once. At first I was confused, because for the first four minutes the same shit kept happening. I was sure my copy was flawed or something. The movie was very slow, but I wasn't bored. I really liked the atmosphere and the music.
  • I really liked The Bling Ring trailer, but I can't say the same for the uninspired poster. The one that caught my eye though is the poster for Violet & Daisy, starring Alexis Bledel and Saoirse Ronan as two teenage assassins. Sounds really cool.
  • I'm very excited about Arrested Development coming back soon. While I could easily mention funnier shows, this one is definitely the smartest comedy series I've seen. I love Will Arnett's character and "I made a huge mistake". There are 9 new posters promoting the shows, here are my three favorite ones:
  • The only way I'm seeing The Lone Ranger is if someone gets me the threesome with Richard and Idris/Nikolaj/Fassy/Lee (whoever is available) but it's kinda cool that Ruth Wilson and Helena Bonham Carter are both in it. What's not cool are the character posters. I'd do better than that in 5 minutes.
  • Backed by popular demand here are photos of Gustav occupying my bed. You'll notice that he had the audacity of bringing his toy with him.
  •  Gustav had a run-in with two Shih Tzus this week. One started to growl at him and then the other one...jumped at him to protect Gustav! That was so adorable.
  • Starting tomorrow me and Gustav will be alone in the house as my mother is going to my cousin's wedding. I would go with her but 1) Someone has to stay with Gustav 2) I have nothing dressy to wear and the thought of buying second fancy dress this week (I have to go to this ball thing 2 weeks from now, what a stupid waste of money) is giving me a stomachache and there's reason 3:
  • I won't get anything done this weekend. I can do stuff only when he is sleeping. Remember that Friends episode when the triplets were sleeping and Giovanni Ribsi was horrified because they would wake up soon? This will be my weekend.

    1. It seemed like a less eventful week in terms of TV and.. I haven't even seen any movies this week. So WEIRD! Yet, Game of Thrones is enough to last me for a week.. Including the books.

I hate going to formal things.. I like buying clothes for them, but I hate the things themselves. I usually feel like crap those days and then the thing I've bought doesn't feel as great on me anymore. Typical girl problems.

      1. I don't like buying fancy dresses cause I have no occasions to wear them and even if I do, I usually don't attend. I hate all that girly stuff.

      2. I wasn't girly for most of my life... now I seem to be going down the road of lipsticks and fancy dresses. :D

      4. Nah, not that silly with those things. Have no debts and I never had them so.. No Shopaholic moment by me. :D

    2. Lol, that's the same feeling I had when I started watching "Somewhere". And the scene with the strippers cracked me up.

      1. I was so confused, no idea what the hell was going on. The scenes with the strippers were trippy.

    3. OK...I saw Arrested Developement, ignored the rest of the post and came down to comment!

My favorite sitcom of all time, followed extremely closely by FRIENDS! I just can't wait to lay eyes on it once again.

And it is definitely the smartest comedy, and also the funniest one imo if you get all the jokes! It is definitely one of the most re-watchable TV Shows ever!

Sorry for totally focusing on a single line, Sati. But that's just how much I love the show. COME ON!

      1. I really like AD, I don't love it, but it's very cleverly written and I'm glad it's coming back.

I think I got the jokes, but Friends and Modern Family make me laugh more than this one, but I do adore all the smart references.

    4. There's seriously going to be a break between episode 8 and 9 of Game of Thrones? The thought of that is already giving me anxiety. But I totally agree that Big Bang Theory's breaks are beyond annoying. I feel like the show runs all year, just at random dates.

I love the quote you used for the title of this post by the way.

      1. Yeah, because of Memorial Day weekend. Last year Blackwater aired anyways and the ratings were much lower than usual, so they decided to do the two-week gap :/

Exactly, why can't they just start the show later and air it, week by week :/

I was re-reading ASOS recently and it stayed with me :)

    5. Oh, and I'm totally with you on Jaime vs Theon. I probably saw the same thread on IMDb that you are talking about where people are comparing them. One of the posters really nailed it on why Jaime is so much better.

    6. Are you planning a Somewhere + Earrings visual parallel? That would be so cool to see, especially because Alex Withrow directed it, and has quoted S Coppola's film as an influence(on twitter).
Anyway, thanks for the weekly gossip and Gustav updates!

      1. I had no idea this was his influence. I'm not sure if I will have the time to do one soon, but thanks for the tip - I'll think about it.

    7. ZOMG I want Brienne and Jaime to be together 4eva!

This reminds me, I have to finish North and South. I was properly giggling at the screen whenever Armitage was there.

Love Violet and Daisy's poster. Is Alexis Bledel still trying to be a teenage though?

Also must watch Parks and Rec.

I'm warming up to Jon. Earlier he annoyed me. Now he's comic relief.

      Thanks for the link!

I know, I was freaking exhausted. He is too beautiful.

        I think she is :)

He is about to get funnier this season :P I think episode 5 will have a scene that will be so hilarious.

    8. Oh my, where do I begin?? Firstly, THANK YOU for commenting on my sci-fi pitch and including it here, I'm honored!!

More Richard, yay!!! Ahah, he didn't know what meme was and did a pantomime, LOVE it!! He used to work at a circus or carnival, isn't that awesome?

I LOVE Nikolaj, Richard needs to up the hunk factor on that show, I mean right now there's only Nikolaj to carry that torch, ahah. He's a tall fellow isn't he? I guess to him, 5'10" IS short, ahahaha, Clooney must not be amused but who cares?

Cute story about Gustav and the Shih Tzus! Hey that could almost make a cute short story :D

Awesome Arrested Development teasers, very cool! Glad to see a creative poster idea once in a while.

      THANK YOU for this, Sati!

He did? And nobody....jumped on him? I'm serious, he should have bodyguards. It's like with Fassbender just walking around in London. That's...dangerous :)

Yeah, he is pretty much the only hot man there. There are some other attractive guys, but they are kinda boyish. There's also Iain Glen, he has such a sexy voice. He is in season 2 of Downton Abbey :)

    10. I like The Bling Ring poster. It seems appropriate for what Sofia Coppola is going for and just by what she's doing, you can tell it's all her.

    11. I agree that Bling Ring poster is a bit blah, but I’m digging the less is more vibe that Spring Breakers went for and flicks like The Bling Ring and Violet & Daisy are following. Either way, def excited for both those movies.

      1. Yeah that vibe is awesome but the execution in this one just came off as lazy. Spring Breakers poster was really eye catching and the one for V&D is so smart, using so little.

Oh yeah me too, I'm sure Watson will kill in that one.

    12. I still don't know about The Lone Ranger. Those posters aren't helping matters.

Thanks for the link, as always. Your comment on my site cracked me up.

As for Reason #3. Perfect. I wish I could use that one more. It beats coming up with yammering stories, even if they're my specialty.
