(86) Sucks to be you, Ginger + links

By Sati. Saturday, July 6, 2013
  • I caught up with first three episodes of True Blood 6. It's actually already better than season 5, but then again is it even possible for it to be worse than that? The show is definitely entertaining. I mean they have Rutger Hauer playing fairy king! This is fucking insane. And Alexander Skarsgard. Oh my God. Thy should do like a spin off of Eric being all Eric. Don't bother with the story, just have him seduce women and have sex with them. Oh, wait. That's porn.
  • I hope they won't kill off Jason. I love Jason, he is the funniest character in the show.
  • Apparently Henry Cavill is no longer dating Gina Carano. Now he is dating..Kaley Cuoco. Yep, the one from The Big Bang Theory. Remember when Chris and Ben met Jerry's wife in Parks and Rec? Well, it's like I'm Chris and Ben, Henry is Gail and Kaley is Jerry. And I'm all O_O.
  • Maisie Williams is ready for season 4 of Game of Thrones. Only 9 months to go....
  • Carice Van Houten tweeted this. She's killing us softly.
  • Great news for those of you who love GoT and are attending this year's Comic Con in San Diego - not only there will be a panel for the show as usual but the guest list is insane - Emilia Clarke, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Michelle Fairley, Richard Madden and Peter Dinklage and obviously George R.R Martin among others. Do something for me if you will be there - when Madden enters the room just stand up and yell THE KING IN THE NORTH!!
  • Another terrific news is that Neil Marshall who directed The Descent and Blackwater episode will be directing season 4 finale which most likely means this is where the gigantic battle of season 4 will be. YEEEEY.
  • While doing my Game of Thrones challenge I got to favorite male costume category. Of course I did this. As if there was any way I wouldn't.
  • Two interesting trailers - first one for Lovelace which looks a bit like Boogie Nights which is always a good sign and also Seyfried and Stone look like they will be incredible in the movie, and the trailer for Burton & Taylor with Dominic West and Helena Bonham Carter playing the iconic couple.
  • Let's just post this for no reason at all:
  • In less exciting news, I got a chance to check out The Place Beyond the Pines. I found it to be really boring and forgettable. The film would have been much better if it focused on the second story and just dropped the other two. Also I bet 90% of Gosling fangirl population was pissed off about this movie.
  • I made a bunch of screencaps out of this one but halfway through the movie I decided not to review it, because I would probably fall asleep in the middle of writing the review. I cannot believe I'm saying this but even Blue Valentine, which I really disliked, was better than this. The only thing that kept me going was watching Bradley Cooper efforts to become assistant to district attorney in a way that made me laugh out loud. Cooper played a cop who 1. had law degree 2. passed the bar. You would think that since he went through this hell he would go and be a lawyer, but nah, he decided being a cop is better. I seriously couldn't stop laughing at the whole process of Cooper becoming assistant D.A. in this movie. Sad thing is, that it was probably less stressful than the regular route.
  • CAN"T Wait for new Lana's music video. She looks smoking hot on the set. I hope it's a video for Cola or American, I love those songs so much.
  • I actually managed to watch 4 movies this week which is more than I saw last month. In addition to Pines I saw new Evil Dead. I didn't eat for several hours because I heard the film is really gross and while I did not feel nauseous while watching it, I did felt faint during one particularly charming scene where one chick was cutting off her own arm. But this might have been due to low blood sugar or something. Anyways the film wasn't anything special but once again I was pissed off because the dog was killed. What the fuck. Just once I'd like to see a movie where all the people die and dog lives in the end. Like, he finds a dog food factory to live in and he has a nice lady friend dog and he is all happy. Fuck, I'd give this 10/10 because that would be the most unique ending in cinema history. I've seen so many on screen deaths of dogs because of this disturbing trend in Hollywood that I actually kept thinking "OMG, I hope Jonah's dog is fine" during This is the End. DO YOU SEE WHAT THEY ARE DOING TO ME WITH THIS?
  • I saw Spring Breakers and I really liked it, which kinda surprised me. I'll post the review on this one next week.
  • This is the End was another movie I saw and I loved it. I cannot tell you how many times in life I used Rogen's line about being on a cleanse but not being psychotic (in regards to smoking and drinking). The film was awesome and I still have no idea who and where was the split-second long cameo.
  • Still, the hardest I laughed this week was during watching an episode of Clueless Gamer which Conan O'Brien uses in his show from time to time. This time Conan reviewed Tomb Raider. Oh my God. When Lara got impaled I laughed for 10 minutes. I couldn't stop. Check out other episodes of this, they are hilarious especially when Conan falls in love with sexy chicks in games.

    1. Nice to see someone else on the Spring Breakers love train! Just made a playlist of similar-ish sounding songs, which was pretty fun. Looking forward to reading your review on it.

In game, Lara's torture is pretty intense man. There were bits as I was playing I was crapping myself, hands sweating and everything (taking on 100's samurai for example). I get really intense when playing games, though!

I cannot miss This is the End. My spiritual lover, Danny McBride, must get my support in the cinematic world, he must!

Also, surprised that you don't like Blue Valentine. What was it you didn't dig?

      1. I really love Martinez's original score to this one. For me him and Zimmer could score every single movie out there.

I haven't played TR but from that bit on Conan it seems like she is constantly suffering which is..disturbing.

McBride was terrific, he nearly stole the show!

I hated Williams's character to the point I hoped someone will shoot her in the movie. The lead performances were great but I didn't find the movie especially interesting or compelling.

    2. I tried to watch the new episodes of True Blood. Only Eric and Pam are the elements of the show I would watch but everything else is just becoming idiotic to the point that I couldn't be bothered as it's just going to free up more of my time on Sundays.

      Mmm... Lana does look hot.

I don't think I'll ever see Fifty Shades of Grey unless it features everything you mention.

      1. The fairy thing is so ridiculous that I'm just treating the show as comedy nowadays :)

    3. omg, that Dance GIF at the bottom is priceless, there are way too many people I want to hear narrate that audiobook now. Having said that, I don't think I could get through more than thirty seconds of listening to that even if it's Tywin Lannister saying "Oh My"

Thanks for the linkage btw :)

      1. I didn't read the book but it just sounds terrible. The most horrifying part about this whole thing is how popular it actually is :/

        You're welcome!

    4. I have to check out this Conan shit asap. It looks hysterical.

I really don't remember Evil Dead that much at this point, but I do remember the dog bit. You would think the f--king dog could have made it out of there, but no. They had to kill it. I think it's like a private joke among directors or something. Lame.

Anyway, thanks for the sweet link as always! That movie really sucked, but I'm glad you liked the review.

      1. It's so funny. I love the segments he has on his show, he is so hilarious!

After she killed his dog I was like, dude, sister or no sister of yours, LEAVE THE BITCH THERE.

        You're welcome! :)

    5. Haha Henry is so cute. I kind of like that he's not dating model-types and people with personality.

      ERIC 4eva! I love Ginger.

      Richard Armitage *drools*

Pines was all over the place. I've really started to like Blue Valentine now. As a Gosling fan, I do respect them starting it with a shot of his torso.

So happy you liked Spring Breakers.

      YAAY GOT! I CAN'T WAIT (I will have to though :'( )

      1. I'm not sure what sort of personality Cuoco has but it must be a great one if he is dating her in spite of everything else.

Haha, yeah that opening made me go "oh, the fangirls must like that" :P But overall I found the movie to be a huge waste of time.

    6. I still can't bring myself to watch the new Evil Dead. I enjoy the original, it was one of my earliest horror films but I dislike gore and this new one seems to have a lot of it. Having said that, the trailer was so bad-ass I just have to see it. Just need to gather the courage. I'm such a pussy!!

Henry Cavill & Kaley Cuoco? Wow!! I guess those debates about Superman that the characters in Big Bang Theory would have can now be easily answered!

      1. Oh man, the gore is insane in this one. Enough fake blood to fill a pool with it. It's not very scary, other than for many jump scares but that's just a cheap way to frighten the audience.

        They sure can :)

    7. I CANNOT believe I just heard Charles Dance say kinky fuckery. That scene of Ginger and Eric was my fav so far, I wish they could have more scenes together, she's hilarious! I'm slowly starting to dislike Cavill, his face (and everything) is too perfect... there has to be something seriously wrong with him.

      1. Well, to be fair Cavill's taste in women is...not very good :) But other than that, yes, it's hard to believe he actually exists :)

Dance is freaking hilarious, the interviews with him are so much fun because he often mentions how shocked he is about all the sex on GoT and he uses really funny phrases to describe his feelings about that :)

    8. No matter what and how busy I am, reading your Friday posts is a must! Glad that you liked This Is the End, I'm trying to catch it soon myself but who knows. Saw Despicable Me 2 and well.. pretty much hated it. All the others who came to the cinema with me, liked it.. I guess I'm bitter inside.

BTW : There's a lot of GOT conversations around me here, many people are currently watching it, starting to watch it or have read it and are trying to catch up with the last season. Ireland is a place for GOT fans. :D

      1. Thank you, that's so sweet! I's a great movie, definitely worth seeing! I don't watch animated movies, so I probably won't be seeing this one.

Oh, I'd love to live there, now there is a new reason to do that :)

    9. "In less exciting news, I got a chance to check out The Place Beyond the Pines. I found it to be really boring and forgettable."

I agree with you there, it was really forgettable. However, I loved the first segment.
Glad you liked Spring Breakers, the 'Everytime' scene is just amazing haha. I saw The Bling Ring last night and really enjoyed it.

That poor dog in Evil Dead :(

      Thanks for the link too!

      1. The first two parts were all right but the movie completely lost me during 3rd part. Oh yeah, that was an awesome scene, one of the best in the movie!

I'd like to shoot a person who thought of killing that dog in the movie right in the nuts. It just happens WAAAY too much nowadays in movies and TV.

        You're welcome!

    11. Officially quit True Blood after the second episode of the new season. Season 5 sucked and this didn't look like it was going to get much better. Entertaining apparently isn't enough for me now. Give me more damnit!

      1. Yeah the fairy stuff became particularly insane and not in a good way and Skarsgaard wasn't even shirtless in first 3 episodes :/

    12. Thank you for the link! Funny story about your male costume thing, I was on vacation this week, and I was looking at Tumblr on my phone, and when I saw your post I immediately thought you would use naked Robb, and my phone took FOREVER to load the pictures. I could've thrown it. At least it was worth it in the end.

The Dog thing made me mad in Evil Dead as well. I yelled at everyone on Twitter for not warning me about that. (Because I demand dog death spoilers so I know to shut my eyes/ears or fast forward)

Why has someone not edited that Charles Dance video with The Rains of Castamere playing in the background?

      1. You're welcome! :) Well, naturally, I mean what else could I use? :) I'm leaving fav love scene for last because it's essentially the same gifset :D

It was so random and awful. If I were that guy I'd leave that bitch in the cabin to rot after that.

I have no idea, it's just such an obvious joke, I wish I had video editing skills to do that:)

    14. Holy crap, I have to find this Charles Dance clip. That looks too amazing to be true.

I don't watch the show, but I can't believe they got Rutger Hauer to be in True Blood. I imagine his character is quite entertaining.
