Richard Armitage Appreciation

Richard Armitage
22 August, 1971 (Leicester, Leicestershire, England, UK)

Today let's celebrate the talent and the general hotness of Richard Armitage. He was the best thing about last year's Hobbit and now he is being considered to be new Batman, I'm fairly certain he would be the best thing about that one too. Shockingly he doesn't seem to be in high demand after The Hobbit, which is odd considering his natural charisma and indisputable talent.

He appeared in several TV series, including Spooks and the first season of Strike Back, which unfortunately he had to leave to shoot The Hobbit. I'm saying unfortunately, because his character there - John Porter - is my favorite among the ones he played and his departure was handled very poorly in the show. Hopefully, there are a lot of great roles in his future, because I really want to see more of him in movies. Or - you know, Game of Thrones. They still didn't cast any of the Greyjoys, so I'm just throwing it out there.

  1. Awesome, awesome!!! I've been fangirling last night on Mr. Thornton, glad you list him as your favorite. Great pics and GIFs, ahahaha, Twitering? The man is hopeless, but it makes me like him more! It's so mindboggling why he's not a huge star by now. Thanks for this Sati!

    1. Yeah I don't think big things can happen for him anymore, they just go with shitty actors for big film and quality actors like Richard are essentially unknown.

  2. Ya know, one of the first things I thought when I heard Affleck was going to be the new Batman was 'I know someone who won't be very happy!' (you). He'd have been a much better choice, can't disagree with that.
Still, at least you've got more Hobbit to come.

    1. Yeah, though I'm not a big fan of The Hobbit, much too light for me. It's probably good he is not new Batman, though, with Snyder as a director the film will blow big time.

  3. I've just discovered your blog and love it. Now that I know you love Richard, I am most certainly coming back here. He is such a Master Actor, a good man, charming, polite, smart and gorgeous. I really do not understand why he's not a massive movie star. Maybe it's his shyness?

I agree with you about Porter - he deserved a much better end. However, I have a hard time choosing between him and Lucas North. I still haven't forgiven the Spooks writers for Season 9!

    1. Thank you, glad you're enjoying the blog! Maybe, but then again his talent alone should make directors chase him and persuading him to be in their films :(

I'm still on season 8 of Spooks :)
