(96) How to properly utilize the river on Hannibal set + links

By Sati. Friday, September 13, 2013
  • Happy Friday the 13h, everybody!
  • I finally managed to see The World's End. To my surprise I only laughed once during this whole film, which was shocking because a) I loved the previous two movies b) I was fairly drunk while watching it. W.T.F joke was fantastic but the rest just felt horribly bland and lifeless.
  • News from Hannibal creator is that Mason Verger will be featured in season 2. Now I'm sure that since the series is a prequel he will look normal for now. But he is the guy played by Gary Oldman in Hannibal the movie. Remember that? That remains one of the most horrific  make up jobs I've seen in my life. To this day I can't find the courage to see the film again, he looks so scary. Seeing how we had fucking Colombian neck tie and Glasgow smile in season 1 I'm sure somewhere down the line they will show the charming cutting off his own face with glass moment. Though given how fucking repulsive Verger is, Hannibal is going to be a damn hero for convincing him to do that.
  • As I mentioned in last edition of  my weekly ramblings, Bryan Fuller tweeted this photo of Mads Mikkelsen wearing a floral crown. Tumblr exploded. I nearly did too, but turns out what really almost made me jump around is the tweet on the left posted few days later. I just hope someone splashed Mads' shirt with water. I mean the river is right there. They have him wearing like 15 items of clothing in each scene. He looks nice (and by nice I mean I don't even know my name or where I am when I watch the show cause I'm fucking tripping on how amazing he looks), but it's such a waste.
  • So my friend who is currently conveniently out of the country recommended me A Royal Affair. I watched it. I'm gonna punch him so hard when he comes back and then I'm gonna thank him. I should have known since Von Trier is the producer nothing not horrifying can come out of that. But I did enjoy those sex scenes. Goddamn.
  • A bit of wisdom Fassy has for Charlie Hunnam regarding his 50 Shades casting:
  • Oh, Fassy.
  • Here's the first look at the cast of American Horror Story: Coven:
  • And here are Angela Basset, Jessica Lange and Kathy Bates:
  • Tomorrow I'll be posting the annual Saturday TV Special about the upcoming season. Lots of good stuff was revealed in yesterday's EW article.
  • Liar Liar was on TV, so I watched it. Such a funny movie. STOP BREAKING THE LAW, ASSHOLE!!!
  • So they are making American Psycho sequel series. Apparently it's going to be set in modern times and Bateman will be in his fifties training new psycho as a protege. I'd be quick to dismiss it, but I'm curious who gets cast in that. Hopefully it won't be dead serious too. I love the humour in the book, so dark but so hilarious too - Earlier in the day I had sawed off her left arm, which is what finally killed her, and right now I pick it up, holding it by the bone that protrudes from where her hand used to be (I have no idea where it is now: the freezer? the closet?).
  • Let's take a moment and appreciate Alexander Skarsgard:
  • Jimmy Fallon did a hilarious Breaking Bad parody that featured a lot of cameos from the cast. I think someone should give Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston an award for existing. That pizza throw was the funniest thing I've seen in a long time.
  • Here is more photographic proof that absolutely no one is actually working on Game of Thrones set:
  • Joking, joking of course. I think something is going on with Pedro Pascal and Lena Headey, they are always hugging and her instagram is filled with the pictures of them together. Also - how cute is Charles Dance hugging Conleth Hill? Nikolaj gotta be so happy to be mud-free and away from Belfast this season.
  • Sigur Ros follows Coldplay and Snow Patrol - they will guest star in the next season. My bet is they will play at the Purple Wedding, which is filming right now.
  • One of the world's most adorable couples, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski, is expecting their first child. CONGRATULATIONS!
  • Parks and Recreation returns in 2 weeks with 1h long premiere....set in LONDON!! Ron Swanson in London! How the hell did that happen?

    1. Thanks for the link, dearest! Ahah, I don't know if I want to check out A Royal Affair or not, but maybe for those sexy scenes ;)

Those pics from GoT set are a hoot, looks like they're having way too much fun!

      1. You're welcome! ARA is definitely worth seeing!

Yep, they stopped drinking and now they are hanging on the beach :P

    2. I saw some of those pics of the GOT cast having their vacation. They must have a lot of fun. I would like to hang out w/ them and maybe have a shot at Emilia and Natalie.

I like Bryan Cranston. He's a funny guy and I think he and Anne Hathaway should come back for the "Let Us Play w/ Your Look" segment. They were having a ball as opposed to some... has-been hot-mess junkie.

Alexander Skarsgard... oh... Michael Fassbender... yummy. Guys I'm totally gay for.

Sigur Ros is way better than fucking Snow Patrol and fucking Coldplay. Oh, and I posted this infamous rant at NIN-fan forum about my opinion about Coldplay and other bands that want to be U2 in response about the new Coldplay song:

I don't think I want to hear that Coldplay song. Plus, I really hate the fact that a lot of bands want to be U2. To me, U2's last great album was Achtung Baby while everything up till All That You Can Leave Behind was still good. It's just that gotten too soft or just poppy even though there's a few good songs every now and then. The thing I hate about U2 is the fact that they want to be the most important rock band out there. Well fuck that shit! I'm going to fucking say it. They're not the best band in the world. They haven't been the best band in the world for many years. The best band in the world is.... QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE.

      1. They are not really on vacation, technically they are there to work :P Natalie is there but she wasn't on the beach, unless she was taking pics, Emilia hasn't filmed her scenes but I think she will be in Croatia too :)

Haha, that's a great jab at Franco :P

I think many men are :)

That's a nice rant! I agree U2 has had some good songs since AB but the albums weren't that great. I like Coldplay but they are not as great as many people think.

      2. Jame Franco did "Let Us Play With Your Look" w/ Jimmy Fallon? I was talking about Lindsay Lohan who basically didn't really do anything.

      3. Shit, sorry whenever I see words Hathaway and junkie I just think of Franco :P

    3. The Skarsgard gif is so fun! ALl in all, thanks for these posts, you keep me pretty much informed about what's going on because I have been doing so many non-movie-related stuff that I think I'm having side effects now.

PS: Are you planning a special post for your big (100)th coming up ? :D

    4. Liar Liar is a lot of fun :)

Have you seen After the Wedding (2006)? That's in my top 100, and Mad Mikkelsen gives an excellent performance. It was nominated for foreign film oscar.

    5. Aww I liked The World's End. A Royal Affair :'(

ZOMG who do they have as Mason Verger??? The whole brain eating thingy at the end freaked me out.

I CAN'T WAIT FOR AHS OMG! I liked Evan Peters as a brunette so much more.

I adore Liar Liar. Love Jim Carrey.

      ASkars looks so confused. Aww.

Is it me or does Aaron Paul look really hot in that spoof? I love both of them though.

      Eeee Parks and Rec time!!

      1. Verger was the one with fucked up face, Ray Liota was the one whose brain was being eaten, I'm a bit unclear on the details but I think he worked for Verger. I heard David Tennant is actually going to be in s2, so maybe he will be Verger? It's a seriously monstrous character.

Paul is actually fairly hot, I find his sense of humor and general niceness very attractive.

Can't freaking wait for Parks and Rec!

    6. Who would have thought that The Worlds End would be so meh. I mean it wasn't terrible, but it was a lot darker and depressing than I expected. The first two films just seemed like so much more fun.

      1. Yeah, depressing is the right word here. All I wanted was to laugh while drinking my wine. Turns out I was wishing for too much :)

    7. Thanks so much for the link! I was pretty underwhelmed by The World's End too. Also can't wait to see who they cast in the American Psycho Tv show.

      1. You're welcome! It was just so...forgettable and not funny. Depending on who they cast this may actually be entertaining.

    8. My kids and I enjoy Liar, Liar too. "Stop breaking the law, asshole" is probably my favorite line. I suspect, for whatever it's worth, more defense attorney's should be giving out that particular brand of legal advice. :-)

      1. Haha yeah :) The tone he used may actually be effective on some :) The pen trick would have helped to get them scared into obeying the law.

    9. Eeep! John Krasinski and Emily Blunt are one of my favorite Hollywood couples! So happy for them. :)

Also, loving that Ron Swanson gif (and the Fassy one as well). Can't wait for Parks & Rec!

Love that Conan GIF. Any idea what he is referring to? Seems like a clip from his Clueless Gamer feature, but I think I missed that one.

Not sure how I feel about an American Psycho series. They already butchered a sequel... guess it depends on who all is involved, but I don't have high hopes.

      1. You're welcome!:)

I know what he is referring to, I made the gif :) It's from Clueless Gamer indeed, the one where he reviewed Tomb Raider, hilarious stuff. I think it's on youtube.

I was skeptical about Hannibal and it turned out to be great, Bates Motel is actually watchable because of Vera Farmiga so I'll give AP series a shot if they cast someone awesome.

    11. Thanks for linking me! You're the best best best! Now I need to go watch those sex scenes between Eric and Sookie again. So, you know, I can continue to appreciate Alexander Skarsgard. I love Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul together. I'm going to cry like a baby in two weeks when Breaking Bad is over.
