(107) Let's be thankful for Franco and Rogen + links

By Sati. Saturday, November 30, 2013
  • Seth Rogen and James Franco won the Internet this week with their hilarious shot-for-shot remake of Kanye West's video Bound. How can people think Rogen is not funny?

  • BTW damn, this guy's "music" sucks.
  • I saw The Hunger Games again. It didn't help. This is such a boring movie and the story is really nothing special. I mean, really? This gets all the praise and good reviews? Really? I also gave Anchorman another shot in that I finally finished that movie. I think it's vastly overrated. There were few funny bits, none thanks to Will Ferrel who is the least funny famous comedy actor on Earth. Also I was appalled when Jack Black kicked the dog off the bridge. What kind of a sick fuck writes something like this? The only dog kills I laughed at where in A Fish Called Wanda and that is a fucking classic.
  • But I did cheer when Baxter returned. Also - I need to get Gustav that pyjamas.
  • Seeing how I found this about the sequel - And what of Baxter in this movie? Does he play a major role? “Pretty big,” adds McKay. “He always ends up being the voice of reason. He’s quietly, maybe, the wisest, most powerful character in the movie. At all times you get this sense that Baxter is three, four steps ahead of everyone, and when the chips really get down, Baxter’s going to be the one to pull it all together.” - I'm gonna have to see that one too. That's right - I watch movies for dogs now.
  • I saw Don Jon this week, it was quite entertaining. Tony Danza and Scarlett Johansson were fantastic, though Julianne Moore was waaaay too old for her character, especially given how the film ended. It was incredibly noticeable throughout the film that it was Levitt's first effort at writing and directing but the film was enjoyable and I laughed a lot during this, so overall I had a good time.
  • I'm really not prudish - but my God, this movie had too many tits in it . They really went overboard with all those porn clips. It's like - yo, Levitt, more story, less tits.
  • I should write the review for this one soon.
  • I still have The Counselor review to post and final entry for MettelRay's blogathon, so this one may have to wait a bit.
  • We don't have Thanksgiving here, but we do St. Andrew's Day, which is so much fun. Unfortunately we also don't have Black Friday and my God I have so much shopping to do.
  • I also have a lot of cooking to do, especially now that I found out this exists. It even has Dornish recipes! These are my favorite.
  • Lastly, feast your eyes on this new, awful Jack Ryan poster.

    1. I really don't like that Kanye West song. The video parody though is hilarious and yes, I would definitely have sex with Seth Rogen over ugly fish known as Kartrashian any day of the week.

You didn't like the new Hunger Games movie? What about my darling Jena as Johanna?

Yes, they do give awards for porno. I've seen those porno award shows. They're quite fun.

That Jack Ryan poster is totally awful.

      1. That song is just horrible. The chorus is OK, I guess, but than that chick's voice starts coming up and it ruins it.

I didn't see the new one yet, I rewatched the first one :)

I'm sure they are :P Probably more fun than romantic comedies :P

Awful movie posters are my new hobby :P

    2. That Kanye music (I wouldn't even go as far as classing what ever that was as music) video was so ridiculous and awful. Jesus Christ. Seth and James' version however was like a gift from the heavens. I haven't laughed so much at something like that in months. I hurt from laughing after that fucking clip. I can't believe how well they managed to do it, like shot for shot.

I'm really tempted to see Don Jon now you've mentioned it. I saw the trailer and wasn't sure about it, but I might have a go at watching it at some point.

And can I just say, thank you so much for linking me. I know that sounds so cheesy but I feel so...I don't know. Touched, happy, ecstatic that someone is actually reading what I put out there. So thank you. Over and over again.

      1. Yeah these guys sure work well together! I never liked Franco as person but it's cool he has such a fun sense of humor. I love Rogen though, he is hilarious!

Don Jon is fun, both Levitt and Johansson are great in their roles. Definitely worth seeing!

You're very welcome, your blog is excellent!

      6. If I read the post and like it, I'll probably end up linking it. But everyone sees if I did in actual post on Friday, there is really no need to remind me or ask me about it.

    5. The Franco/Rogen video is hilarious and shocking, it's awesome. I'm watching Catching Fire for our podcast in a few minutes, I hope it's better than what I'm expecting.

Aww, there's something so sweet and cute about people falling asleep when they shouldn't. Especially if it's someone like Ian McKellen! Thanks for the link!

      1. Ian McKellen is the cuttest.

Although me falling asleep at work is probably not cute at all :P

    6. OMG that video! Too bad Rogen didn't get his stomach photosopped like Kim did. Thank you for the link! I'm a total Anchorman freak. I love that movie.

      1. I just don't get the appeal of it, maybe because I dislike Ferrel so much.

    7. That Rogen/Franco video is priceless. What a great way to make fun of a god awful music video. I mean jesus, what the hell was Kanye thinking? Thats so much for the link :)

      1. I think the problem is that most of the time Kanye is not thinking :P

    8. Hello Sati, I'm baaack! :D Thanks so much for the link love. Ahahaha, those Seth Rogen and James Franco are hilarious, I don't care at all for Kanye so I'd rather watch that than his video!

Oh I'm so w/ you about Don Jon, I think JGL went overboard w/ the porn stuff. I mean fine he could show it once or twice as it's integral to the story but it was waaaay too much. It's like yes you like porn, we get the point!

MY GOODNESS! That is THE most awful poster I've ever seen, it made the one for The Counselor like a piece of artwork!

Btw, when's St. Andrew's Day? I did a bit of Black Friday shopping with my best friend, it was a lot of fun and what girl doesn't like bargains? :P

      1. Yeah I don't like Kanye either, he is a douchebag and his music sucks.

It was way too much. It's like he didn't know what to show so he wanted to distract the audience instead.

        It's really bad, isn't it?:D

St. Andrew's Day was yesterday :) Glad you're OK I heard Black Fridays can get dangerous and violent.

      2. Oh yeah, there are sometimes people dying for being trampled on Black Fridays, I mean seriously?? NOTHING is worth a person's life, it's just so sad. I avoid the major discount stores like Target or Walmart, so the mall I went to were fine, not as crowded as people seem to think.

      3. South Park actually did Game of Thrones themed episodes on Black Friday madness recently :) The crowds were like zombies, I mean, Jesus, it's madness.

Here we already got Christmas discounts, I barely got alive out of the store when I bought a lipstick 40% off :P

    9. I like the Hunger games because it is a whole new world that shows something quite relevant to our society today. We have all these strange artists (lady Gaga, Cyrus, Minaj and all the other fake dolls) that affect the young in a very bad way. We have a huge disparity of wealth between the rich and the working class. And since I'm in to economics and banking (I am very familiar with that kind of stuff) I can say that there are a lot of things that we can learn from the Hunger Games, solely because our world already looks a bit like the Hunger Games’ world.
It's not about love at all. It is about war. It is about a world where the very rich live off the working class, something I myself see today, there are a lot of examples of corruption even in America and they are considered to be the wealthiest nation.
It is true that the movie cannot explain a lot of things, little details that are explained in the book, but those details show me more about this world, so I encourage you to go and read at least a resume, an extensive one. I personally haven't read the books it but I've read an extensive resume so I could find out what were all these details about.
All I am saying is that I was quite surprised that it is not another Twilight, but instead, some good food for thought. Even though most people do not realize how much are we alike them. I can imagine how the world where Katniss lives turned out to be that way. Correction. I don’t have to imagine it, I can see it with my very eyes, because as I said, I know tons of stuff that simultaneously make my view of the world more clear and a bit more gloomy compared to the people around me. Now, so as not to sound as crazy maniac or conspiracy theorist, I am going to say that politicians are not lying to us, but our financial system has a lot of stuff to be fixed.

    12. God that Jack Ryan poster is simply terrible. I can't believe they paid someone to do that.

And that Rogan/Franco video is just amazing. It's just perfect. This is when Rogan is at his best for me, when he's doing something different. I'm a little bored of him in films but this was just outstanding.

    15. Thanks for the link!

I never understood why Anchorman was so well-liked. I didn't find it funny, so I'm skipping the sequel.

I kind of want to see Jack Ryan: Shadow Circuit, but I've already forgotten about it. Seeing it probably won't change that. :/
