My open letter to Anna Gunn

By s. Tuesday, August 27, 2013 , 25 Comments
 Mrs. Gunn,

While I always and consistently disliked Skyler White I also had a profound respect for you for not making a spectacle out of yourself and not complaining about how many people dislike your character. I especially respected you for not repeating Vince Gilligan ludicrous and highly offensive allegations that Skyler is hated because of the misogyny.

Being disliked for the character you are playing is a professional hazard when you play what - as you yourself put it - a villain to the show's protagonist. Unfortunately, you wrote NY times article that is not only completely missing the point as to why people dislike your character but also you made some comments that are genuinely offensive to women who are actual victims of misogyny all around the World.

10 reasons why I'm looking forward to The Counselor

By s. Saturday, August 24, 2013 , , 26 Comments
Ridley Scott's The Counselor is one of my most anticipated movies of the year. I read the script for this one, written by well known author Cormac McCarthy, a while back and recently I re-read it after seeing the film's latest, terrific trailer. The film definitely has potential to be among the best movies of the year and here are few reasons why I can't wait to see it:

Richard Armitage Appreciation

By s. Thursday, August 22, 2013 6 Comments
Richard Armitage
22 August, 1971 (Leicester, Leicestershire, England, UK)

Today let's celebrate the talent and the general hotness of Richard Armitage. He was the best thing about last year's Hobbit and now he is being considered to be new Batman, I'm fairly certain he would be the best thing about that one too. Shockingly he doesn't seem to be in high demand after The Hobbit, which is odd considering his natural charisma and indisputable talent.

He appeared in several TV series, including Spooks and the first season of Strike Back, which unfortunately he had to leave to shoot The Hobbit. I'm saying unfortunately, because his character there - John Porter - is my favorite among the ones he played and his departure was handled very poorly in the show. Hopefully, there are a lot of great roles in his future, because I really want to see more of him in movies. Or - you know, Game of Thrones. They still didn't cast any of the Greyjoys, so I'm just throwing it out there.

Why The Great Gatsby is the funniest unintentional comedy of the year.

By s. Saturday, August 17, 2013 , , 48 Comments
Baz Luhrmann's Great Gatsby is boring, stupid and messy but most of all - it is hilarious. The film has a terrific soundtrack and beautiful visual side, but it's a complete chore, filled with scenes that were so funny I actually roared with laughter. Even one of the scenes listed below should prevent everyone from taking this film seriously but all of those?  Add to that about hundred of times Gatsby says the words 'old sport' and what you get is a laugh riot. Wicker Man remake kind of a riot. Only Wicker Man was entertaining and Gatsby is incredibly boring, unless ridiculous things are happening. And boy is there a lot of those:

Lovelace

Let me just start by saying - I have absolutely no problem with porn. I think everyone should be able to do what they want, as long as it involves consensus between people. You wanna do something hardcore? You wanna film it? Go ahead. That said, I don't necessarily have to feel sympathy or any respect for the people involved in porn industry.

Michael Fassbender is in BIG trouble in new, dynamic trailer for The Counselor

By s. Wednesday, August 7, 2013 , , 22 Comments
The Counselor is one of my most anticipated movies this year. Having read the script I can tell you that it will either be amazing or it will be absolutely awful. The latest trailer doesn't really help me with determining which one of those it will be, but it looks like they kept some of the best parts of the script in the film.

Byzantium

By s. Tuesday, August 6, 2013 , , , , , , , , 28 Comments
We are in the middle of vampire craze in cinema. Ever since Twilight, there was a bit of a renaissance when it comes to vampire films - there seem to be at least three new big productions every year. From television shows like True Blood and The Vampire Diaries through European flicks like Livide and Let the Right One in to the big productions like Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter and Underworld series, vampires are everywhere these days.
