(125) *inhuman fangirl noises* + links

By Sati. Friday, April 4, 2014

  •  74...MORE...HOURS
  • SPOILER Does anyone else panic a little/feel sad because we are losing Joffrey soon? He is a twat, but he is so entertaining to watch. Jack Gleeson has done a hell of a job over the past three years. A magnificent performance all the way END OF SPOILER
  • *inhuman fangirl noises intensify*:
  •  Well, actually it's about 2 months until this particular moment to happen on the show and for me to explode, but what the hell.
  • If I'm not on twitter before/after the premiere airs it means I died. Or I am laying on the ground laughing manically and punching the air because Thrones is finally back.
  • Also if at any point this season Stannis beheads something with his sword, while riding on a horse, my chance of survival drops to zero. I live in constant fear they will rob me of him kicking ass this season. Please don't do that. I ask for so little. Do not substitute that awesomeness for some sappy melodrama DO. NOT. DO. THAT. I'm a very forgiving person - no, that's a lie - I'm a very forgiving person for GoT writers but if they deprive me of Stannis kicking ass I'm gonna bitch about it as long as I've bitched about Mhysa ending scene. It's been 10 months. I still bitch about it. Don't get me started on what happens if they mess up the epilogue.
  • These sadistic bastards are doing the hiatus for Memorial Day again this year. Before episode 8. I'm not gonna say why it's particularly cruel, but book readers know why. I can barely keep it together from Monday to Sunday when Thrones is actually on. They take it away for two weeks? Nightmare.
  • This is awesome. Even the people who don't watch the show should see it:
  •  "Peter Dinklage will get every good dwarf role until he dies...or Warwick Davis kills him"- I seriously cried from laughing. Although fuck off at the Stannis bit. I'd hit that. Hard.
  • Finn Jones's unicorn obsession - which I do believe is a side effect of him taking some sort of drugs I'd love to take - is freaking hilarious.
  • Pedro Pascal is best friends with Sarah Paulson and they are both adorable:
  • Here you can listen to the preview of The Rains of Castamere by Sigur Ros. The band plays the musicians on Joffrey's wedding in episode 2 and I bet their rendition is the ending credits music.
  • Rumor has it Cersei/Jaime sex scene from episode 3 is even more gross than in the books....how is that even possible?!
  • We are also getting Ramsay's hunt in first three episodes. Yeah, I can hear your joy from here.
  • Ladies and gentlemen, misery porn:
  • Team Dragonstone is dark...and full of grumpiness. This is an actual promo image from the second episode and these are the looks on Stannis and Davos' faces as Melisande is burning people alive around them. As I look at that picture I can actually imagine Davos say frantically in his head 'Your Grace...NO!' as Stannis is brooding sexily with confused "what is happening right now and whatever it is what the fuck am I doing this for?" look on his face. I think his crazy wife (the baby jars lady, remember, guys?) is in the scene too so that explains the extra amount of unhappiness. She's probably throwing more wood in the pyre and high fiving Melisandre while she is at it.
  • I hope that the trip to Bravos is just gonna be Davos and Stannis, Brokeback Blackwater style.
  • I was making a lot of edits lately, my fav out of the ones I made this week is this one which is my attempt at showing both ice and fire in the series (here's the whole thing). Pretty, huh? I keep making those because 1. it's good practice and I finally figured how to style the edits for weekly recaps 2. the alternative is staring at the countdown clock...and that's just mental...
  •  We talked about silver foxes on the show last week. Apparently this gifset exists. *breathes into a paper bag*
  • I thought I knew everything there is to know about Thrones. I was wrong:
  • This is so sad, Shireen and the actress are both so cute.
  • I really can't re-read the books every time the show comes back on. I mean I read them and I can't wait for all those awesome moments to come in season 5,6 and beyond. "Tell me, Turncloak, what battles has the Bastard of Bolton won that I should fear him?. Oh, God. Then there's whole Cersei/Margaery thing. Please get Polly Walker to play Cersei's lesbian lover.
  • The week GoT returns they release this. That's attempted murder.
  •  Um....*raises hand*...I can cook...
  • One of the few people who can make me watch something is Louis C.K. And he was hilarious hosting last SNL.
  • I've been watching The Tunnel. Because of reasons.
  • The show is good,  which quite shocks me given how most I've seen of British TV either deteriorates in quality quickly or is simply unwatchable (there are some truly outstanding exceptions, though). Dillane and Clemence Poesy have such sweet and chemistry and she is surprisingly great - her character is really awesome.
  • I saw Nymphomaniac, part 2. Amazingly it was even worse than the first one. Jaime Bell's scenes have to be seen to be believed. What. the. fuck. I am not sure who was more uncomfortable - the actors being asked to do that sick shit or me watching it. Watching it sober, too, which was a serious mistake.
  • I finally saw Frozen. It was cute and everything, but it was just too much singing for me. I did like what the final act of true love was, that was great. And the snowman who acted like he was high was so cute.
  • Oh my God, Shameless. That was awesome. Mickey is amazing. But where is Mandy? I hope she does something graphic and brutal to her asshole of a boyfriend in the finale. Also - again, let me just say - Kevin is my hero.

What is your favorite thing to cook. I wanna learn to cook for my own reasons as I have cooked a few things for me so far.

I was going to see Nymphomaniac this month but... I've just decided to wait out for the longer version so my review will be coming soon....

I eagerly anticipate your review of the first new episode of GoT...

I want to apologize for not contributing to your spin-off blog-a-thon. I had a few ideas but nothing came into fruition and I apologize for that.

      1. I usually cook Italian :) The thing I haven't quite mastered yet is baking, but I'm getting there.

You're really not missing much with this one except maybe you can look at Jaime Bell in a different way than those of us who saw the movie do.

It should be up on Monday :)

        Oh, that's all right! :)

    3. I'm working full day on Monday...... which means I have to wait longer for the first episode and well, that just ain't right.

Also, The first spoiler thing is hard not to read but I already knew that.. accidentally spoiled some things for myself back when I was doing some background search and 2 out of 3 already happened.. so after the last one, I haven't read anymore spoilers!

Mickey is what makes Shameless shameless.. that coming out scene was just.. unf. I feel a bit frustrated that Ian wanted him to come out like that and pushing him but I guess he can't help it, I wonder when they'll write his condition into the show!?

      Thanks for the link!

      1. Did they confirm he was bi-polar? Because that's gonna be messed up for poor Mickey. I feel like they already have a bit too many problems. They should have given that storyline to Debbie because her losing virginity quest is some of the weakest plots this season.

    4. That honest trailer is perfect, I laughed all the way through it! I'm not sure my excitement can get any higher for GoT. I'll be worried for my health if it does.

      1. I think it will go up with each episode, this is the season based on best part of the story so I'm kinda scared for my health too :)

    5. Sorry you disliked Nymphomaniac, but I sort of expected you to, because of your low opinion of Lars von Trier.
Anyway, I'm happy you liked parts of Frozen , I agree the snowman is cute, and he's the character from movie I remember the most vividly.

      1. I have the lowest of opinions about him but if the film was good, as was Melancholia which I rated over 9/10, I'd appreciate it. However this was just...rubbish.

Olaf was definitely the best part :)

Thanks for the link, girl! I'll never get that whipping scene out of my mind, no matter how many times I try and wash my brain with soap.

      1. Yep, Thrones is the best thing in the world! :)

        You're welcome!

That was so awful. I have no idea what Bell must have done. Probably took hard drugs for like a week to burn a hole in his brain.

    8. That picture of Cersei and Joffrey is hysterical. I cannot wait for Sunday! I'm sorry we Americans ruin everything for international viewers by not tuning in on Memorial Day. lol. Personally, I always tune it. It's always raining on Memorial Day here.

      Thanks for the link!

      1. I just cannot comprehend not watching Thrones when it airs. I once watched it live at 4 AM and I had an exam at 8. HBO is seriously going to kill someone with this hiatus thing, probably me :)

        You're welcome!

      2. I should agree it is hysterical. I haven't read the books but I really didn't expect that they would put a shot with a potential spoiler on one of the trailers (PROBABLE SPOILER ALERT: On the 'Awaken trailer you can see a shot of Cersei, looking devastated and probably about to do something crazy, and a little below her necklace you can see strings of hair, probably Joffrey's, and I doubt that he fainted.)

I almost got a heart attack, but that shot made me wish it was the 6th of April even more! CANNOT WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

        Delete
      3. Well in the first trailer for season 3 if you paused you could clearly see Jaime has no hand. But here....maybe it's Jaime's hair? Or Cersei's son Tommen?

        You'll find out on April 13th :)

    9. I feel obligated to see Frozen, because everyone is talking about it. Your opinion on it though seems like it would be similar to mine, so I may just skip it entirely. Whoops.

And Nymphomaniac...that's about to screen here in NOLA at a mini-film festival. I can't imagine the reactions it'll receive or how utterly uncomfortable it'll be watching it on a BIG screen! I'm slightly curious though, especially from your response to it...but only in the comfort of my own home where I could push the OFF button.

Thanks for the link! I caught on to True Detective late in the game (everyone even my DAD kept telling me to watch it), but I'm happy as hell I did!

      1. I'm just not into animation. I don't think I was even into animation when I was a kid..

Oh, Christ. Those dicks on the big screen? That would kill my sex drive for longer than the accidental quick glance at Girls promo the sadistic pricks on HBO showed before TD once.

You're very welcome, that was an awesome article!

    12. I recently started watching Shameless, too, I love it, especially the whole Ian/Mickey story! I'm at season 2 now, but I'll probably finish it by the beginning of next week.
Also, i started re-watching Game of Thrones from where I left of, season 2, to get ready for this one :)

      1. Mickey is so awesome. He is such a complex character and he is a badass. I love how concerned he is about Mandy but what I love more is that she doesn't need his help to take care of herself.

Oh, yey! GoT is the best :)

    13. 'inhuman fangirl noises intensify' Ha..ha.. You're too funny Sati, and that Honest Trailer is hilarious, glad there's a non-spoilery version though. Man, the Cersei/Jaime stuff is so messed up, how could Lena even look at Nikolaj (and vice versa) in between takes, ahah.

Wow, didn't know that about Matthew getting turned on by food. Ha..ha.. surely you can cook very well when the right motivation is there right? :)

      ReplyDelete
      Replies
      1. I think they are all having fun on that set :) And Lena hasn't seen Nikolaj on the set for 2 year before season 4 so I imagine it made the s4 sex scene between them a bit awkward :)

I technically need to cook every day not to starve, but that would be a better motivation :)

      2. WOW you cook every day?? Yet you're able to attend law school AND maintain this awesome blog?? You are a super woman Lady Sati, maybe someone ought to make a superheroine based on you!

      3. Well I don't attend law school anymore, that's all done :) But I still have some exams to pass so there's studying and working.

But when everyone gets to see 20-30 movies a month I'm lucky if I see 4.

      1. And episode 10! It seems it has pretty much every single climax of Storm of Swords there. They will, they even added some stuff that wasn't in the books, they said s4 is the most action packed :)

    16. I'm not surprised by your reaction to Nymphomaniac...the whole thing stinks of an egocentric director unshackled to do what he wants, principally by surrounding himself with people who think he's God. I haven't seen Nymphomaniac parts 1 or 2 but I'm sure I'll get around to checking it out eventually so I can put substance to my distaste for it.

    17. I totally agree with you, I also love Gleeson’s performance, and I enjoy a lot watching all the Lannisters. I think they're great villains to this story and love the actors playing them. For me it's kind of a "I love hating you" thing. Oh and I also hate the hiatus… it’s like why are you doing this to me?

The honest trailer was one of the best things I’ve seen in a long time, so funny… loved the “everyone related to Sean Bean dies” part. And the Willow reference was great too.

And what is wrong with Finn Jones and unicorns? He seems stoned in every GoT event that I see him. Pascal and the "drrrrunk" tweets, hilarious. Paulson seems to be a really funny woman too.

Love Team Dragonstone! I’m a big fan of both actors, hope we get plenty of them during this season.

The McConaughey eating thing: OMG… just when I thought he couldn’t be sexier.

I haven’t watched The Tunnel so I will definitely check it out!

And thanks a lot for sharing my blog! :) Really glad you appreciate the posts as I'm a big fan of yours, it has become a daily read since I've discovered it.

      1. Oh they are all so good. Dance is just spectacular and Headey brings so much to Cersei. Love watching them, the whole ensemble is really astonishing.

Jones is so funny I appreciate him being a good sport. The entire cast seems very appreciative of fandom and the series which is lovely.

I'm not sure about us getting plenty of them, but hopefully they won't rob us of particularly amazing Stannis moment this season.

The Tunnel is very good, definitely worth seeing!

Thank you so much! Love your posts, the amount of research that goes into them is truly admirable.
