(21) We need to talk about Lea Seydoux + links

By Sati. Friday, April 6, 2012
  •  Absolutely beautiful Charlize Theron appeared on the cover of British Vogue looking almost like Grace Kelly. If they ever make a movie about her it would be lovely for Theron to play the part.
  • I also want a good movie about Jacqueline Kennedy and apparently I may see one soon - reportedly Fernando Meirelles is set to direct the adaptation of  "Nemesis: The True Story Of Aristotle Onassis, Jackie O, and the Love Triangle That Brought Down The Kennedys" and apparently he want none other than Michael Fassbender to play the part of Bobby Kennedy.
  • Mad Men. Apparently January Jones's acting skills increase with a weight gain. Betty Draper looks like a beast now. I think most of it is make up and prosthetics anyways that's not what I'm here to write about - Betty thought she may die and when the doctor calls her with the good news that the tumour is benign she reacted in her usual horrendous way "I'm just fat". So she would rather be seriously ill and have that as an excuse for her weight gain. It's a shame she and Don are not together anymore, they are equally despicable people. thank God, the show is so interesting. It may be the first show I like watching despite awful protagonists.
  • Game of Thrones is back. They slayed a baby in the first episode. This was heavy. I don't get all the love for Jon Snow, chicks go crazy for this guy. I think his story arc is the most boring in the show and he looks a little like frightened puppy. Episode 2 is actually available in the Internet already and apparently many people think that some of the scenes from it are "porn". Oh wow. If they ever see actual porn they may die due to prudishness exploding inside them and making their innocent brains escape their body through their ears or something.
  • I thought the awful casting decisions won't happen for some time after they hired Chloe Moretz to play Carrie. I was wrong. Ashton Kutcher is set to play Steve Jobs. Oh, God.
    • I saw "Addams family" films this week. I loved all the moments where the family was interacting with regular people especially the scene where Morticia was with the kids in the school telling them a fairytale. Christina Ricci was amazing in these films, by the way.
    •  I also watched "The Moth Diaries" by "American Psycho" director Mary Harron. It was better than imdb rating suggested but it may be because I have a weakness towards gothic horror stories, Lily Cole and schoolgirls going nuts in sophisticated private schools.
    • I don't drive. It's a matter of public safety. If I drove a car, dozens of people, trees and what's worse animals would die in the process. So to get to my university I use public transportation which frequently breaks down. It broke down on Monday, as I was getting back from classes which lasted 40 minutes. I spent all together 1,5h getting home, 1h of which walking home, since I did not feel like waiting for a bus and I figured a walk is a good idea. Because of my sense of direction I actually got lost several times, since despite I live in major city my neighborhood is surrounded by the woods, mud and river. So I got back home in muddy boots and I was completely exhausted. I hope at least I lost some weight through all of this, because if Jennifer Lawrence is being called fat than I don't know what this makes me.
    • Lea Seydoux. 27 years old and so lovely. What is it about those french actresses that they appear on screen and it just shines this magical light? Marion Cotillard, Audrey Tautou, Sophie Marceau, Eva Green...and I suppose many would say Melanie Laurent, though I'm not a fan of hers.
    • The trailer for new Woody Allen's movie "From Rome with Love" is out and as most of his trailers it's not very good. But the movie may be fun, since Judy Davis who was just amazing in "Deconstructing Harry" and "Husbands and Wives" is starring in it, along with Allen, whom I adore on screen - he is so funny and it's very annoying when the actors who play main characters in his movies try to impersonate him.
    • It recently occurred to me that Judy Davis starred in what may be the only two movies I completely didn't understand - "Barton Fink" and "Naked Lunch".
    • Easter is approaching and though I do not celebrate it my mother does so it's all about shopping, cooking and cleaning nowadays. I do enjoy all the cute decorations with bunnies and baby chicks. And it even made for first half decent "South Park" episode this season.
    • When I see the picture on the left I just go "Blue jeans, white shirt, walked into the room you know you made my eyes burn"

    1. Thanks for the mention. I do think Lea Seydoux needs more exposure. She's hot.

I totally agree with you on Ashton Kutcher. I echo David Fincher's sentiments.

Charlize Theron definitely looks great. BTW, have you seen her Funny or Die videos? She needs to be in a low-brow, Judd Apatow comedy. She is hilarious! The clip of her sitting on the toilet is hilarious.

      1. Oh yeah I saw them, she is amazingly funny. She should do more comedies, she was hilarious in the comedy parts of Young Adult.

    2. To tell you the truth, Wall part was my least favorite from the book too. But, wait for the end of the season. There is something there, that will make up for it and beyond.

      1. Really? That's great! I'm sure they will make whatever it is into cliffhanger.

    3. Apparently another Steve Jobs movie is being planned by Sony, with Aaron Sorkin writing it. No news yet who'll be playing Jobs, but expect it to be waay better than Kutcher's version. On the bright side it can't be worse than that other Steve Jobs movie, Pirates Of Silicon Valley [1999].

Oh, and yeah, you really should see Project Nim. A really haunting cinematic experience.

      1. Sorkin's writing it? And Kutchner not in it? That's two points that make into a better movie than the one Ashton is starring in already :)

    4. Thanks for the link!

I don't drive either. I got my learner license over a year and a half ago and I should be on my 'restricted' now, but I literally cannot drive my mum's manual car. I crashed it once (it wasn't that big of a crash, though), and I just haven't been into driving ever since. Too much responsibility - it makes me shit scared!

I would really like to see The Moth Diaries. It looks rather interesting!

      1. I'm scared of driving too, I can't imagine actually finding the right way and notice all these signs and pedestrians at the same time.

The Moth Diaries is actually good, it has great atmosphere and gorgeous cinematography.

    5. That Fincher gif <3 I'm so attracted to that man.
I recently saw Addams Family too. Ricci did her best work there.
It is almost annoying how alluring French actresses are. But then are really good too, so I can't hate them :P

      1. He is amazing. They should do like a TV series or something where he just talks about stuff. Yeah, too bad Ricci didn't make any good movies recently.

Speaking of Grace Kelly, I just heard a rumour that they might be getting Nicole Kidman to play her :/

    10. I'm also very happy with the two Game of Thrones episodes so far. My two favorite characters are Tyrion and Arya. This is going to be a great season for Tyrion. As another commenter wrote, things are going to get more interesting for Jon Snow.

Ricci and Huston were the reason to see the two Addams Family movies. I loved Ricci's deadpan delivery in them.

So even worse that killing people from trying to drive, would be killing animals? :-)

Thanks once again for the linkage.

      1. Oh yes. When I'm watching the news and they mention people die, I'm ok, but God forbid they mention that an animal was killed. Unless it's a rat.

I love Tyrion but I don't get the love for Arya although the young actress who plays her is very good.

    11. Sorry, Theron is nothing like Grace Kelly!

    12. Thanks Sati!

Also, I completely agree with your January Jones comment. She's actually my favorite actor on the show, but with this weight depression, she's really tapped into something. Can't wait to see how it unfolds.

      1. It's a shame the episodes seem to be only focused on certain characters lately, out of four episodes she was in one :(

      2. Yeah I agree. I want more of her!
