(383) Be Italian + links

By sati (harlequinade) Friday, March 29, 2019
  • We have a release date for Deadwood movie! May 31!
  • The fuck? I thought this guy had more class than his fanbase, but clearly not. He sounds unhinged and so, so simple. WB should take his producer credits away from upcoming movies, he keeps giving them bad name and still makes money off them.
  • Here's new poster for Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile. It says "May" right there. I tweeted Netflix if that means they also drop it in May and they didn't answer me. This is my hell.
  • Update: For once my country came through and we are getting the movie in cinemas on May 10! YEY! I'm so gonna be there having inappropriate reactions.
  • Also this is Zac's next project. Why is it animation again?! Hiding this face from the audience is a crime!
  • Meanwhile looks like everyone had fun on The Beach Bum premiere:
  • Leaked poster for next Star Wars movie. This....doesn't look great. What the hell is that thing next to Finn?!
  • So Jason has a new TV series which will be on this Apple streaming platfrom thing. Here's a bit of a footage from it.
  • Avengers: Endgame may be 182 minutes long. There is whole bunch of youths on social media begging for intermission because they will need to pee. Just stop drinking sodas and eating in cinemas like animals and you won't have the problem. Ugh.
  • New character posters. Here are the most important ones:
  • Chris and Paul Rudd are going to be on Graham Norton's show!
  • Angelina Jolie is in talks to join The Eternals. That would be a huge get for Marvel. Hopefully she would play one of the heroes and not a disposable villain.
  • I had a Tarantino marathon over the weekend. Inglourious Basterds is such an incredibly well done movie. It would be his best if Pulp Fiction and Jackie Brown were't even better than this. I think it's Pitt's best performance. That ridiculous accent of his will never not be hilarious. The scene where they are forced to speak Italian is probably the funniest scene in Tarantino movie right after Bruce Willis yelling in the car about Fabienne forgetting the take the watch on the kangaroo. That one kills me very time.
  • I swear the most promising aspect of Once Upon a time in Hollywood is that Pitt appears to be doing that ridiculous accent again. That's just hilarious.
  • Django Unchained is one of Tarantino's weakest movies. Jaime Foxx has absolutely no screen presence whatsoever, same goes for Kerry Washington. Once Waltz and DiCaprio exit the movie this thing is almost unwatchable. What a shame Will Smith didn't end up playing the protagonist, this would be so much better with him in it.
  • Hateful Eight has the same problem in that the closer to the ending, the less interest the audience has in this story. The penultimate chapter is great but then the last one drags for so long. And they really could have used more Channing Tatum who was really awesome there. Also the fact that the white guy and black guy finally come together but only when it comes to hanging a woman is really in poor taste. Still, it was quite amazing how gripping most of the movie was considering how long it is and that it is mostly in a single setting.
  • Then I rewatched both parts of Kill Bill and while the first one is much more entertaining than the second, these films are so well written. Elle Driver is such a cool villain and that fight she has with the Bride is so intense - and ends in such a disgusting out come. I still can barely watch the ending to that scene
  • Then I watched San Andreas because fuck it, right? It was so stupid but The Rock is always so likable that he makes any dumb shit he is in entertaining.
  • And then I checked out The Dirt on Netflix which was pretty decent. I never heard of Motley Crue but I guess now I know more about that guy Pamela Anderson made a sex tape with. Also how the fuck are the people depicted in this movie still alive? Jesus! Iwan Rheon who played Ramsey Bolton on Game of Thrones was really good here.
  • On Monday I rewatched The Cabin in the Woods. Now that is a movie with coherent and smart script unlike Us which the more I think about the more annoyed I am Peele didn't respect the audience enough to polish that script more. Also this one has Hemsworth taking off girl's panties with his teeth. I mean...what more can we possibly want from movies?

      1. Right? Man I'm just gonna be asked to leave that Ted Bundy movie by the cinema staff, I know it lol

    2. I always look forward to these. :D I thought the Bundy flick was coming out in the fall?? Or are ya'll just lucky and I have to wait, being a stupid American. Boo! I also don't get the whining about the Avengers being long. LOTR and Titanic were long ass movies and no one whined about an intermission. FFS.

      1. Thank you! :D I read somewhere Netflix wants to do Oscar campaign for boo boo but it looks like it opens in theaters in UK and here and probably other countries in May, so this will probably have cinema release now and Netflix is gonna drop it in the fall

      2. JEALOUS. I hope it's worth the wait.

    3. I couldn't stop laughing at the "finally my country did something right" tweet. I'm so happy for you and Abs Boo.

Not bothered by Endgame running time after doing movie marathons. Give me a challenge! lol Don't mind the new posters, but I just don't understand why the tagline is on their heads. I feel like I'm missing some creative point about it. :P

Will Smith was supposed to be in Django Unchained, but he passed it up because he didn't think it became the grand love story it was initially written to be - it only became a revenge flick, and that was one of the things that's always irked me about the movie. I don't think it's Quentin's best either. Jennifer's performance in Hateful Eight is one of my all-time favorites. It's so rare we get to see a gritty female "Western" character. But don't really care for the rest of the film though.

      Thanks for the link! <3

      1. Seriously, for once I get to see something I want before others do :D

Eh, considering how dreadful character posters can be they didn't do a terrible job :)

Oh well then at least he had a reason. I like Jennifer's performance but the treatment of her character is really terrible, the film focuses on the evil of the woman in spite of the fact they were all awful people

    4. I'm so glad the dusted characters got posters too. I hope it really is 182 minutes because I will not move at all lol.

I go back and forth on whether or not I think Inglorious Basterds or Kill Bill vol 1 is my favorite Tarantino movie. It's hard to choose. I'm glad Pitt is bringing back that accent.

The thing I give Jamie Foxx credit the most in Django is that scene where he picks out his outfit. I lol'd so hard in theaters at that.

      Thanks for the link!

      1. That was pretty good! but the longer the movie went the more boring Foxx was. i don't think I ever liked any of his performances

    5. I hope Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile drops in May because, even though my country is getting it on May 9, my city won't and I don't want to wait an eternity to see it

Tatum was so good in The Hateful Eight! I love both Kill Bill movies (I need to rewatch them though as I've seen them ages ago) but my favourite is the second.

      Thanks for the link!

      1. You're welcome! Yeah he was really great! Really brought the second life to the movie just as it was becoming a bit tiresome

    6. I love how the subtitles specify shitty accent. I have yet to see that movie but I really need to fix that.

I'm probably going to be the person announcing to my row there are like twenty minutes of previews alone put down your popcorn and drinks, stop tweeting about how you're about to watch Endgame and go to the bathroom now people! Now!

      Happy a great weekend!

      1. Oh you have to see it, it's amazing!

Seriously whenever I'm at the movies everyone brings a shitload of food and drinks and they are done with them by the time the previews are over. Just eat something at home, people!

        You too! :*

    7. So true about the Endgame runtime. Cut out snacks, and especially the drink, and you will be fine.

I have to disagree on Us. I think the writing is just very dense and requires multiple viewings. That said, I do love Cabin in the Woods. Amazing movie.

San Andreas is so dumb, but so fun.

      Thanks for the link!

    9. Man, you watch so many movies... here I am binging on Will & Grace and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I did also binge watch the entire third season of the Santa Clarita Diet and let me tell you, Timothy Olyphant IS AMAZING! But you know it already. God, I need to watch Torchwood and Deadwood right? I started and I never got anywhere because western is not my cup of tea. But I said that about horror once and look how I've changed.

That being said, I will never rewatch Hateful Eight again, so boring.

PS: I'm bummed Chris Evans isn't doing Graham..he's never done it and I would LOVE to see him there. :(

    10. brad pitt's italian in inglourious basterds had me in tears in the cinema, this is actually probably the only movie I went to see in the cinema twice - once in austria and once in sweden because with all the languages it's basically the same sync in every country. I even had a dream about brad pitt last night that I was so nervous to meet him I said "hello mr. fit" and he just laughed it off and said "that's what they call me"

    12. I love that you had a Tarantino-thon, because the majority of his movies are so well done. Like you said though, Django and H8 are so meh. Jamie Foxx should have been replaced immediately; he has no screen presence at all, and doesn't seem like a Tarantino character. Great post!

      1. Yeah he really dragged the whole movie down. When it was just him left it was so unengaging

    13. Thanks again for the link. ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS appreciated. :)

I'll be honest I really struggle getting onboard the Tarantino train. It's a lonely place to be because I get that he is universally loved. But I've always felt he was so committed to his style/brand that his movies smother under it. But I'm pretty much alone on that island!

      1. You're welcome! :)

Yeah I get it! His latest movies aren't the best though so I wouldn't be surprised if more people dislike them

    14. Django is EASILY the worst of Tarantino's movies, I think. Hateful 8 is probably second worst, but in fairness I should probably watch both of those again. Kill Bill is SO GOOD - I really want to see the "Whole Bloody Affair" cut but at this point I don't think it will ever see release. I'd probably rank as his best:
      1. Kill Bill, Vol. 1
      2. Inglorious Basterds
      3. Jackie Brown
      4. Pulp Fiction
      5. Kill Bill, Vol. 2
But that would probably change tomorrow lol.

Kids today. No patience. We sat through all 195 minutes of Titanic, all 178 minutes of Fellowship of the Ring, all 180 minutes of The Two Towers, and all 200 minutes of Return of the King. MULTIPLE TIMES EACH. Grow up and ditch the snacks! They're too expensive anyway lol.

So happy for you that your country is getting Extremely Wicked... in theaters so early! The Power of Zac!

      1. For me Death Proof is easily the worst, it was just so dull and simple for a Tarantino movie

Right?! What the hell is happening, I don't remember anyone complaining when LotR was in theaters that it was too long

oh yeah Poland loves Zac :)

    15. Oh man, I heard Beach Bum is a mess. Poor Zac Efron. It's good that he has the Netflix movie lined up, that should help

Agreed on the Star Wars poster, it looks weird. And considering the hype around Avengers, I really don't think Star Wars episode 9 will top it.

Speaking of Avengers, I can't wait for the press tour to start, especially Chris and Paul on Graham Norton, I love that show

      1. Zac is in Beach Bum only for few minutes so hopefully no one blames this on him :)

They are both so cute I cannot wait for them to interact!

    16. I agree, Inglourious Basterds is right up there with Pitt's best work. The choices he made for that performance are so risky, but they all paid off. I love that damn movie.
