10 romantic scenes for Valentine's Day
On the occasion of Valentine's Day I decided to share 10 romantic scenes that came to my mind. Some of those are just the scenes where the characters expressed their love for each other with gestures and the look in their eyes. Others include beautiful quotes that I'll remember forever. Though the film that for me showed the strength of love the most - Brokeback Mountain - is not included, the films from which those scenes come from did a great job at showing the miracle of love. Jennifer Connelly's devotion in A Beautiful Mind, Viggo Mortensen's eyes in The Return of the King and Berenice Bejo's innocence and kindness in The Artist - they all portrayed beautiful emotions and at the same time the incredible strength of love.

DeleteMy favorite romanic scene: Ron and Hermione kissing in DH2. Even though it wasn't like the book, I was just glad it happened. For awhile there I thought their shit screen writer wouldn't include it.
ReplyDeleteI liked the scene but I was disappointed there was no slow build up to it, I think it would have made it more memorable.
DeleteI was expecting a Valentine's post from you and you did not disappoint Sati, so THANK YOU!! LOVE all of them with the exception of the two I haven't seen yet. Beautiful scenes indeed, you picked wisely :D You'd be happy to know that some of these couples are on my list of 14 movie couples as well (you might be able to guess which ones).
ReplyDeleteGlad you like it! Which ones you have yet to see?
DeleteMulholland Drive and Seeking a Friend for the End of the World.
DeleteOh you have to check those out, MD is a terrific movie and "Seeking..." is really romantic.
DeleteVery cool. A lot of scenes from The Fountain pop into my mind when I think of Romances. Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan sailing (floating?) off at the end of Joe Versus the Volcano. Benjamin and Daisy's scenes in Benjamin Button.
ReplyDeleteThanks! Oh the Fountain is such a romantic movie!
DeleteSati, this is such a magical post! Very well put together, and it made me really nostalgic and bitter because these scenes are so unattainable in real life! wahhhh! Great, great post <3

DeleteGreat post! I love the ones from A Beautiful Mind, Amelie, The Artist and Titanic.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favorites is the car scene in Before Sunset, when Celine almost touches Jesse when he is telling her about his dream and she pulls back with that look in her eyes. It gets me every time.
Thank you!
DeleteOh it's such a beautiful scene, the whole movie is very romantic.
Seeking a Friend for the End of the World caught a lot of flak, but that moment was beautiful.

ReplyDeleteThank you! Amelie is such a sweet film.
DeleteYou. Youuuuuuuu.
ReplyDeleteWhat an excellent post, Sati. It's very sweet and so well done.
While I like all your picks, my favorite is from Big Fish. Depending on the day, that's in my top 10 of all time. I show to my tough-shit 7th graders every year and they always look at me as if they've just seen actual magic. A few of them even get what's going on, too.
As cliche and overplayed as it may be, the 'you had me at hello' bit from Jerry Maguire is also a favorite of mine.
Thank you so much!
DeleteBig Fish is in my top 20, have been there since I've seen it. It's just such a magical and fiercely romantic picture. Oh, it's a lovely film to show to the kids! The fact that they liked it gives me hope :)
blaragagh Aragorn and Arwen. Wonderful. I love their relationship in the film, it's definitely something that is improved upon from the book.
ReplyDeleteYes! I loved that they put so much emphasis on their relationship in the trilogy.

DeleteNot only do I love what you write, I love the style in which you present it. This was beautiful post.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteAmelie, The Artist, and Seeking For a Friend for the End of The World are all great scenes! Aragorn and Arwen too, but I forgot it considering I see it a long time ago, it should've been memorable because it's a long journey for them.
ReplyDeleteGreat post, Sati!
Thank you! Glad you liked my choices.
DeleteGreat list :-) I absolutely love that scene in The Artist, it's so clever. I also knew there'd be some Aragorn/Arwen love in here :-)
