and...10 more great uses of songs in movie trailers
And one more time, here are 10 more awesome uses of songs in teasers and trailers (part 1, part 2). This time it's only movies. We'll probably gonna have these posts every once in a while since practically all I listen to are either soundtracks or trailer songs and clearly there is no shortage of awesome Imagine Dragons songs they can use flawlessly to market a movie.
30. Gone Girl (She by Richard Butler)
29. Ghost in the Shell (Enjoy the Silence by KI Theory)
28. Rampage (Bullet with Butterfly Wings by Smashing Pumpkins)
27. Justice League (Come Together by Gary Clark Jr. & Junkie XL)
26. The Expendables (Diamond Eyes by Shinedown)
25. The Departed (Comfortably Numb by Roger Waters (Feat. Van Morrison & The Band))
24. Thor: Ragnarok (Immigrant Song by Led Zeppelin)
23. Mission: Impossible - Fallout (Friction by Imagine Dragons)
Totally in the minority here, but I dig the Hell outta how they used that Pumpkins song in the Rampage trailer. That shit is incredible - great pick.
It also might be worrisome how much I've grown to love that f--king Mission:Impossible trailer. Give the bastard that cobbled that thing together a raise immediately. I didn't even bother with the last one (despite your recommendation...!), but I'm all in for Fallout.
The She cover from Gone Girl trailer definitely puts a new and darker spin on that romantic love song. I'll take a look at the rest later, thanks for sharing!
Thor Ragnarok...Yessss! That song in the trailer/that scene was amazing! Great choices!
ReplyDeleteThat was so great. The second scene it was used in was the standout of the movie
DeleteShinedown? Ugh.... those assholes fucking suck! They're the reason rock music is almost dead in America. Imagine Dragons suck too.
ReplyDeleteYes to Gone Girl and Thor: Ragnarok.
Yes, I'm sure one band is the reason 'rock music is almost dead in America' /s
DeleteAwesome list! Music can make or break a trailer. Imagine Dragons was perfect for the new Mission Impossible. :)
ReplyDeleteThank you! I really fear the next trailer. Cavill in this is an actual health hazard
DeleteThe Immigrant Song! I still can't believe I hated how that sounded at first. Now I want it to play every time Thor comes on screen.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure if they used that song in THAT moment in IW a lot of people in the audience would shit themselves with delight
DeleteGreat reminder! Out of this list, enjoy the silence stuck the most with me (but i just reeeeeally like that song). Keep em coming!
ReplyDeleteI think everyone likes that song, though :)
DeleteLove the Gone Girl one, perfectly suits it.
ReplyDeleteThe cover isn't the greatest but the song choice is really brilliant

More of this, please.
Why in minority? Do people hate on that? That was a great use of that song!
DeleteDude just watch Rogue Nation
I woulda figured you'd already included Logan in a post such as this. :P
ReplyDeleteNice pick with Justice League. The movie was shit, but the trailers and their music choices were spot on.
Logan was number 1 in the very first one :)
DeleteThat was such a great cover and the trailer was decent then they just fucked it up beyond comprehension
GREAT picks. Love the music choices in the trailers for The Departed, Fallout, and Ragnarok in particular.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if new Fallout trailer tomorrow beats this one cause it is gonna be difficult

ReplyDeleteFincher usually has really great music choices in his trailers and movies
