15 best film tracks of 2014

90% of what I listen to is film music, so I had a lot of great thing to listen to in 2014 - it was one of the finest years for film music in recent memory. No matter who wins the Oscar this year - it's going to be well deserved. I'm going to choose the best scores in my huge best of list on Tuesday but for now let's listen to the year's best, most memorable and incredible tracks:

Welcome to the second Best of 2014 list! There were plenty of movies last year with absolutely stunning cinematography. But this list is a little bit more specific than this. It's about that one perfect image that showed up on screen that I won't be able to ever forget. Whenever thinking of these movies, it's impossible for me not to remember the best shots in them and they just appear in my mind instantly.

Over at the amazing filmexperience there is a wonderful series going on called 'Hit me with your best shot' where you get to choose your single favorite shot from the assigned movie and write the reason why you chose it.

Well for my first ever post participating I'm in a luck as even with the amazing amount of stunning shots in Under the Skin there is one that was truly the best one there.

Let me preface this by saying that I did like the movie a lot. Unfortunately, since I am familiar with book material there's going to be a lot of 'oh, what could have been!' talk here.

It's been a year, more or less, since I read Michel Faber's terrific novel Under the Skin. Since I don't have much time to read fiction, I don't spend my time with books that often. The main reason I usually do is because there is a movie in the works based on the novel and it sounds amazing. So what happens is I read the book, I love it and then I see the movie. And it's not the right way to go. At all.

Scarlett Johansson lures you into a nightmare in the first teaser for Jonathan Glazer's Under the Skin

After a year or so of having literally 3 stills from the movie, we finally got the first teaser for Jonathan Glazer's (very loose) adaptation of Michel Faber's novel Under the Skin. The first thing that strikes you is how incredibly surreal it all looks - the cinematography looks excellent, as does Scarlett Johansson as a mysterious woman who picks up hitchhikers...and they are never seen or heard of again.
