Visual Parallels: Wonder Woman + Captain America: The First Avenger

By s. Monday, April 9, 2018 , , 28 Comments

Both Wonder Woman ad Captain America are the most idealistic heroes in their respective universes, DCEU and MCU. Heroic, noble, compassionate and always ready to fight for the innocent in peril. While Captain America: The First Avenger is a relatively modest movie comparing to other films in MCU, Wonder Woman is so far DCEU's crowning - or only - achievement.

35 best shots of 2017

Before I publish my entire Best and Worst of 2017 list - and that's gonna be next Sunday - there is still one more separate list to publish. Most of these shots are pretty self explanatory but if I had additional thoughts or explanation I added that. Here are my choices for 35 best shots of 2017:

10 best performances in 2017

By s. Sunday, January 21, 2018 , , , , , , 22 Comments

Every year I think I celebrate most aspects of my favorite movies of the year properly. After all, my final list has so many categories and there's plenty of love (and hate, I think I need to create some new categories for Baby Driver this year) there. But I always felt if there is one thing I could write more about it's the outstanding performances. I always only write about winners in each of the four categories and that's not enough. So this year, for the first time ever, I decided to put all of my 20 nominees together  and choose top 10 performances out of those. And deciding between the top 2 was an absolute nightmare.

10 best scenes in 2017

By s. Saturday, January 20, 2018 , , , , , , , , 18 Comments

Here we go! It's time to start my best of lists. I i still have few movies left to see before I finish my epic Best and Worst list - I think there are nearly 70 categories there this year,  including The Post and Phantom Thread, but since it's almost the time for Academy Award nominations and most bloggers are publishing their best of 2017 lists already, I decided to start with mine too, especially that I doubt any of the films I have left to watch from 2017 could get into top 10 here.

Wonder Woman

By s. Monday, June 5, 2017 , , , , , , 28 Comments
75 years. That's how long Wonder Woman had to wait for her own movie. 14 years. That's how long the director Patty Jenkins had to wait to do her next film. But now it's finally their time. And with that all the women should cheer - we finally have a CBM movie where it's a woman who is leading, not following.

And it's wonderful. They should be very proud. We all should be considering the opening weekend box office.
