Once again this time of year me and Gustav would like to wish you Merry Christmas, lots of joy, great gifts, tons of laughter and love.

Famous tagline "no limits" is one of the best advertising strategies from HBO. Is it really true though? Yes. We get to see things on HBO that an ordinary broadcasting station wouldn't dare to show. And though Showtime and AMC have a fair share of shocking things in their shows, HBO still takes the prize for the most courageous station.

Top 10: Trailers

Trailers are one of my favorite things when it comes to movie advertising. Some people don't watch them, fearing they may spoil the movie, but I don't care about any of that. For me it's the trailer that makes me the most excited about films/TV series. The right combination of images, music and pacing can produce works of art that often times are actually better than the movie they are promoting (eg. Love and Other Drugs).

10 romantic scenes for Valentine's Day

On the occasion of Valentine's Day I decided to share 10 romantic scenes that came to my mind. Some of those are just the scenes where the characters expressed their love for each other with gestures and the look in their eyes. Others include beautiful quotes that I'll remember forever. Though the film that for me showed the strength of love the most - Brokeback Mountain - is not included, the films from which those scenes come from did a great job at showing the miracle of love. Jennifer Connelly's devotion in A Beautiful Mind, Viggo Mortensen's eyes in The Return of the King and Berenice Bejo's innocence and kindness in The Artist - they all portrayed beautiful emotions and at the same time the incredible strength of love.

Scene of the Week Special: 10 favorite scenes in The Lord of the Rings trilogy

Since I've recently seen The Hobbit I found myself missing the first trilogy taking place in the magical Middle-earth. I must have seen every of The Lord of the Rings movies at least 5 times, including the lovely extended editions. I really love these films - they show the beauty of friendship, courage and love. They are filled with amazing performances and they are extremely well made. As I rewatched the trilogy in the last few days, I finally managed to put together the list of my ten favorite moments:

Autumn Gallery

Autumn - the time when leaves have warm, gorgeous colors as they fall from trees, when days are shorter and nights longer and when it rains for most of the time. For me it's usually the only time of year when I fall ill, but even that doesn't change the fact that it's a lovely season - one that has my favorite day of the year - Halloween. It's also beautifully depicted in movies - all the shots of leaves on the ground, creating this cozy surroundings around the characters, the rain falling from the sky and people walking outside, in their coats and with their umbrellas, not being discouraged by the days are becoming darker and colder with each moment.

Why I love Brad Pitt

Brad Pitt. Though I never list this guy among my favorites, he really is and I should start doing that. I claimed for years now that this is a man whose 90% of films are fantastic. He is almost never wrong when choosing films and even if he is (The Mexican, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Troy) he always gives 100% of his talent.

He is one of those actors who do both well in drama and comedy. He was mesmerizing in last year's Moneyball, fascinating in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford and heartbreaking in Babel. But it's his comedy efforts that are the closest to my heart - from Mickey through compulsively eating Rusty to Chad, Pitt never ever failed to make me laugh.

Summertime!

Summer - heat, sunlight, ice cream and sand. There are several works of art that, for me, capture the season so well that you can experience them in the middle of snowy winter and you still feel as if you were standing on the beach, looking at the waves, feeling sunlight on your skin. In music it's Lana del Rey's songs - they really feel as if the sun, the heat and the desire to feel a little bit of wind on your face was enclosed in them. When I listen to her songs I feel as if I was in the apartment complex much like the one in "Leaving Las Vegas", next to the pool or in some diner, like the one in Twin Peaks seeing everything around me melting, while looking thankfully at the ceiling fan.

Same goes for certain movies (U Turn, The Rum Diary) where you can really feel the summer vibe in every single shot. Here is the collection of images from various films, that for me capture this season of the year perfectly:

I'll be damned If I sit here making a list of the most romantic moments in movies. Fuck it. In the time when in recent movies Scarlett Johansson has a bra in sex scenes (who does that?) and Justin Timberlake is dry humping (I don't even wanna know who does that...)  Cameron Diaz it is nice to remember that some movies actually have good, passionate and erotic sex scenes. Here we go:

15 movies to celebrate Winter Holidays with.

If you are tired of the same movies being played on TV over and over again on Christmas, here is something for you - my list of new Christmas classics and since there is absolutely no snow outside my window which pisses me off to no end - also a lot of films featuring tons of this white, cold, magical thing.

Winter's Bone

Freezing cold and poverty contrasted with the warmth of main heroine's heart - in the chilling film Jennifer Lawrence in her breakthrough performance plays a girl who desperately tries to find out what happened to her father to keep her family safe. The film also features absolutely magntic performance by John Hawkes.

Let me In

In the remake of one of the most famous horror movies of last years set in the midst of snow and darkness, young boy meets a vampire and forms a friendship with her. The relationship is mutually beneficial, but this version has much more darkness when it comes to the character of vampire than the original.
