50 wishes

By s. Monday, April 23, 2012
Inspired by this great post by Tyler at Southern Vision I made my own list of cinematic wishes. Most of those are related to the mistakes that were made that I wish never happened or to the material I really would like to see on the big screen.

1. I wish there was a separate movie about Pfeiffer's Catwoman.
2. I wish Jason Statham and Guy Ritchie made more movies together.
3...also Mark Strong and Guy Ritchie.
4. I wish more movies had score as whimsical as Amelie.
5. I wish less people disliked Anything Else
6. I wish Michael Sheen had been nominated for Oscar for Frost/Nixon
7. I wish there were no plans to remake Carrie.
8. I wish Ridley Scott directed all four films in Alien franchise.
9. I wish James Cameron never turned Alien franchise toward action genre.
10. I wish Fox didn't fuck up Fincher's Alien 3.
11. I wish Casino got as much acclaim as Goodfellas.
12. I wish they made a separate movie about Beth from Black Swan
13. I wish Lea Seydoux was the main villain in Ghost Protocol.
14. I wish and hope Brandon stayed in the subway after the end of Shame.
15. I wish Hugo Stiglitz didn't die so soon in the movie.
16. I wish more people appreciated Solaris (2002).
17. I wish Deadwood wasn't cancelled
18. I wish more of Tim Burton's films were like Sleepy Hallow.
19. I wish more people saw In The Loop.
20. I wish Batman movies would finally feature Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy, this time doing the justice to the wonderful character.
21. I wish Inception was a better movie.
22. I wish the truck didn't hit Jean Dujardin's character right in the beginning of "Little White Lies'.
23. I wish Mavis Gary grew up.
24. I wish they made sequels for "The Girl with the dragon Tattoo" with Rooney Mara
25. I wish the ferry sequence and the sonar in "The Dark Knight" never happened.
26. I wish more films were as sensual as "Out of Sight".
27. I wish less action films would fall apart in 3rd act.
28. I wish more movies were as funny as "Snatch".
29. I wish more horrors had scores as haunting as the one for "Suspiria'.
30. I wish there were more movies about witches.
31. I wish Rob Zombie made a sequel for "Superbeasto".
32. I wish Prometheus running time would be close to 3 hours.
33. I wish more of Chuck Palahniuk's novels would be made into movies.
34. I wish David Lynch returned to making films.
35. I wish Brokeback Mountain won instead of Crash.
36. I wish Jean Dujardin and Nikolaj Coster Waldou starred together in Quentin Tarantino movie.
37. I wish Cate Blanchett played the part of Anna in Closer.
38. I wish there was a great movie about Bloody Mary.
39. And Jaqueline Kennedy.
40. And Grace Kelly. And not with Nicole Kidman in a lead role.
41. I wish more movies had Yorkies and Shih Tzus in them.
42. I wish random actors from TV series would stop popping out in the movies.
43. I wish more of Anne Rice's books would be adapted for the screen.
44. I wish less people judged Kristen Stewart based on "Twilight".
45. I wish we saw more of Olivia Williams, Eva Green and Anna Friel.
46. I wish there was a separate movie just about Lily and Snape.
47. I wish it was 2 years into the future so I could see season 4 of Game of Thrones and all the awesome stuff from book 3 in it.
48. I wish Catherine Deneuve was immortal and forever as she was in "The Hunger".
49. I wish "Matrix Revolutions" never happened.
50. I wish somebody finally made a movie based on "Master and Margarita" worthy of the novel.

  1. You had me at "I wish there was a separate movie about Pfeiffer's Catwoman."
They will make more of the Millennium series with Rooney Mara, won't they?
    Great list :D

  3. Great post :)

My wish: I wish there was a movie in which Sean Bean was still alive at the end.

P.S. Do you still visit wtm ?

    1. Haha, yes that would be quite a big twist in a movie with Bean - if he actually lived in the end :)

Not so much anymore, but I will try to visit it sometime this week!

  4. I love that more people are doing these Fifty Wishes posts. They make for fun reads. There's a lot of stuff I agree with here in your post. A few:

#29 - Oh yes. I wasn't completely enamored by Suspiria, but that score was superb.

#33 - I'm all for this one. I'd love for someone to tackle Lullaby or Survivor. There was also a rumor swirling around a while ago about one based on Snuff, which would have starred Daryl Hannah and Thora Birch among others. That one turned out to be false, unfortunately. I don't see that book ever being filmed in today's moral climate.

#44 - I haven't seen any of the Twilight films, so I really don't get the hate for her. She has been good in the films I've seen with her. Adventureland in particular was a strong performance.

Cool post! Keep up the good work!

    1. I heard something about Invisible Monsters being made into a film, I'd love to see this happen not only because of the story but filming it woud require a lot of ideas as to how on Earth show the protagonist.
      Thank you!

  5. I would've loved a Pfeiffer Catwoman movie. She's my favorite in the role--after Julie Newmar.

  6. This is so great!!! I might have to do a list of my own if that's cool?
    Mark Strong and Guy Ritchie....*daydreams*
Totally know what you mean about Kristen Stewart. Twilight was not her movie...Twilight shouldn't really be anyones movie, but yeah.

    1. I'd love to see your list!
Kristen really deserves a bit better, I hope "On the Road" changes things a little.

  8. This is really cool! I'm thinking I might have to do one of these lists. I do hope that Rooney Mara will be doing the Dragon Tattoo sequels, and David Fincher directing. And I do wish that we'd see more of Olivia Williams. She is ah-maz-ing!

  9. This is a great idea for a list!

I'm with you on #3, add Gerry Butler in the mix too, love him in Rocknrolla! I so agree that I wish someone else had been cast to play Grace Kelly, I think Charlize Theron is a bit better fit.

I'm curious about #25, why do you wish the ferry sequence and the sonar in "The Dark Knight" never happened?

    1. Theron would be wonderful in this part!
I thought these two were desperate plot devices Nolan used when he realized there is no rational way for Batman to defeat the Joker.

    2. Well there is no rational way for Batman to defeat the Joker. I actually like those scenes and involving the people of Gotham into the mix somehow.

  10. Love this list!

Yann Tiersen is AMAZING. I hope I manage to go to his concert this summer, he's one of my favourite artists. Amelie has such a brilliant score, and so does Good Bye Lenin!, really, really good.

Kristen Stewart... in Twilight... it just gets to a point where it is too annoying, and frankly, poorly acted. But what I mean is, I've seen her do good, and people are rude and ignorant, but she could have done a much, much better job as Bella.

I can't believe Kidman is playing Grace Kelly, she's a great actress but I just don't see it. I can see Theron as Kelly... though there's a kind of boldness in Theron that I don't know if she could put down. She's such a badass. :D

I too wish there was a decent film about Jacqueline, she was such an interesting, iconic lady. And Sleepy Hollow is probably my favourite Tim Burton movie, it's so funny and cute, and Depp is a delight to watch.

    1. Good bye Lenin has a gorgeous score, I love Tiersen's music.

She could, though frankly the script doesn't give the actors that much room. I just hope she will make smart choices now, because she is very talented.

I think Theron would be able to pull it off, though I see her as badass too ^^ She was quite different in "Devil's Advocate" and "Astronaut's Wife', though.

SH is fantastic, Depp was just hilarious in this one!

  12. We share plenty of the same wishes! I wish Brokeback Mountain would've won as well. I have to agree with Kristen Stewart too, even though I make fun of Twilight all the time, I really did like her in The Cake Eaters.

Love the idea of this list!

    1. I liked it a lot, all the actors were amazing but I thought the only outstanding one was Clive Owen. Really great film, probably in my top 200.

  14. Such a great article, Sati! I also wish more of Palahniuk's novels had been made into movies. I saw Choke and thought that was pretty terrible. I'm all for yorkies being in more films too, I used to have one - they're just the cutest! I'm just a huge dog lover so I'm normally pretty happy if a dog appears somewhere in a film!

    1. Oh, I love dogs! I actually works on various charity actions - I'ts weird but I feel more saddened when animal suffers than human. What happened to your Yorkie?
Choke was entertaining movie for me, but comparing to the novel it was quite poor.

  15. Harley Quinn in a Batman movie, hell yeah! I wouldn't miss it.
