  • Thanks to D23 we have tons of news. New poster for The Rise of the Skywalker, you know, in case you didn't know Emperor is in it. This reeks of nostalgia bait and desperation. They also released a sneak peak with Rey in dark robes. Oh, J.J. You and your hype marketing.

Dell is hosting his annual Against the Crowd blogathon, so I just had to join to complain again. Here are the rules:

  • Poster and trailer for The Report
  • Detailed description of Midsommar Director Cut.
  • Trailer for Antlers. I have a script for this but I have absolutely no time to read it between work and well, fangirling, so I will just wait for the movie.
  • Trailer for Bombshell with Charlize Theron, Nicole Kidman and Margot Robbie. Theron's make up is incredible - she looks just like Megyn Kelly!
  • So it turns out that Keanu is gonna be in the next The Matrix movie (Yey!) but it will also be made by one of the Wachowskis (oh noes). And Trinity is coming back. What?! Bitch got impaled by a dozen pipes and she is coming back?!
  • HBO is making a prequel to Practical Magic. But they also hired Lena Dunham to do something. That thing should not be getting hired by anyone. What the hell is going on over there?
  • Speaking of bad decisions, Disney wanted more money from Sony for Spider-Man and Sony refused to roll over. But of course Deadline published the article breaking the story, with a lot of omissions, and made it look like Sony is the bad guy. And everyone is now blaming Sony and defending Marvel whereas in reality this is what happened.

Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw

    By s. Tuesday, August 13, 2019 , , , , , , , 14 Comments

    (cast spoilers!)

The audience and critics alike loved the chemistry between Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham in The Fast and the Furious films so much that the studio decided to green light a spin-off featuring both of them. And now it has finally arrived. I myself only started watching the series when Statham joined it and as far as dumb action movies go, they are really good. And this spin-off has the added bonus of Vin Diesel, the black hole of charisma that actually sucks out the charm of surrounding actors, being nowhere in sight.

  • Thanks to Hobbs & Shaw we have another Tyrese meltdown. How did Dwayne not hire an assassin to silently take this guy out yet?
  • So here we go with several bad ideas that hit the news cycle in the last 7 days:

5 reasons I'm really hyped for "It: Chapter Two"

    By s. Sunday, August 4, 2019 , , 24 Comments
We are now 33 days away from the release of It Chapter Two. Having just rewatched the first movie yesterday and having seen Jade the Orient scene just now, that screened last night along with the re-release of the first movie in USA (as always fuck the rest of the world, right? God bless helpful redditors who uploaded it there) I'm very excited. I'm rooting for this movie to beat the record set by the first one. It's a horror film backed by a major studio, with big budget (and you can really see that budget, the production design alone is lovely) and with a runtime of over 2 hours and 40 minutes. I want it to make so much money and I want it to be good and from the looks of it, it will be

  • I'm not actually euphoric since I'm back to work and hating it more than ever. I was already so tired yesterday I tried to open my office door with a credit yeah.
  • Stunning poster and first trailer for The Lighthouse. This is from Robert Eggers' who made one of my all time favorite horror films The VVitch. This one was made with older equipment, to make it look like a film from another era. The cinematography looks truly spectacular and I think maybe it's finally time Dafoe gets that Oscar?
  • Yes, that is a mermaid tail. Yes, there is one in the movie. No, apparently it's not horror horror but more of a psychological drama. Also I am grateful for subtitles in my country because I couldn't understand a single word in that trailer.
