Visual Parallels: Take Shelter + The Hunt

    By s. Wednesday, November 27, 2013 , , 18 Comments
Take Shelter and The Hunt don't have much in common at the first glance. But when you start looking closely similarities arise - both stories center around a man, who despite having a family and people who love him, is utterly alone with his problems. In case of Curtis, the hero of Take Shelter, he is suspecting that he is becoming mentally ill. Lucas, the protagonist of The Hunt, on the other hand has been accused of molesting a little girl in his village.

    (106) in the land of gods and monsters... + links

  • People magazine chose Adam Levine as the Sexiest Man Alive. When Aliens invade I'm not gonna fight them. We, us a race, deserve punishment.
  • Lana del Rey's short film Tropico is finally getting released - December 5th is the big day and the teaser for the film looks seriously awesome. Also Lana needs to get back to that studio and record some new stuff - I've been annoying my neighbors with Paradise Edition (and GoT soundtracks) for months now.

    Mads Mikkelsen Appreciation

    Mads Mikkelsen
November 22, 1965 (Østerbro, Copenhagen, Denmark)

I take my work enormously seriously. When I do something it has to feel right. Everything has to be right. I’m not ambitious about my career, but I am ambitious with each job. I can be fairly annoying to work with. No compromises. Let’s put it this way: compromises are from hell

    Breaking Emotions: Smiles + Thrills

This week MettelRay gave us Smiles and Thrills to work with. I'm gonna give three examples for each of those. I'm going to share actual scenes too.

A summary? Pussy Palace, undies and George Clooney. My God, that sounds erotic.

  • Maleficent poster is so ridiculously awesome. The trailer is very enjoyable too. Angelina is chilling and superhot. I really hope it won't suck. I can't have another movie I'm anticipating disappointing me. The Counselor was a pile of poo and 12 Years a Slave was good but not great. Thank God for Gravity, other than that this year is pretty shitty.
  • James Franco said the scene in the gay bar in Shame is homophobic. What's worse is that I see this opinion being expressed by a lot of people. It's one of the most ridiculous things I've heard in my entire life. Also - just how many gay jokes were there in This is the End and during his roast? I laughed at those but seriously, does Franco think he is the right person to talk about stuff like that when he is laughing his ass off whenever someone jokes about him being gay?
  • Season 4 teaser for Game of Thrones will air with the finale of Boardwalk Empire. There is a real danger I'm gonna crap my pants when this happens.

American Horror Story: Coven - 3x06 The Axeman Cometh

    By s. Thursday, November 14, 2013 4 Comments
This week's Coven brought in quite the cinematic episode. It was very focused and almost felt like a separate movie, with few scenes connected to the main story line. We open in 1919 where we meet the Axeman (Danny Huston) - New Orleans's equivalent of the Zodiac killer. The Axeman killed 8 people and wrote to the newspaper that he won't kill anyone who has jazz music playing in their house.

Angelina Jolie is pure perfection as Maleficent in the film's first trailer.

    By s. Wednesday, November 13, 2013 , 24 Comments
(I know I'm probably the last one to post it, but in my defense I was making the above graphic)

It's finally here. The long awaited first trailer for Disney's Maleficent. People are really excited for this one, especially for one awesome reason - Angelina Jolie. Not only was she absent from the big screen for a while now, but it's pretty damn rare that someone is literally the only right choice for a certain character. And there is no one in the world more perfect for the role of evil witch Maleficent than Jolie.

  • So couple of rooms in my apartment are being redone. My room is the only usable one, which means my mother brought all of her shit in here. I have 5 bedside lamps in my room right now. And plants. So many plants. It's like a Lynchian nightmare. Gustav is sleeping in my bed. He took over my pillows. I nearly fell out of a bed. And he is A YORKIE.

American Horror Story: Coven - 3x05 Burn, Witch, Burn!

    By s. Thursday, November 7, 2013 6 Comments
This week in American Horror Story we got to see witch burning, a good old fashioned chainsaw to zombie's head action and another episode of Spalding's little corpse/starlet slapstick adventure. It was, just as it sounds, really fun.

    Breaking Emotions: Fear

MettelRay has started another fun blogathon - this time she is posting a list of emotions and participants can share movie scenes that caused them to have those emotions. Yesterday she posted awkwardness and fear. Instead of giving 3 examples for each, I'll give 5 examples for fear.

    (103) Halloween! + links

  •  So how was everyone's Halloween? I followed the tradition of watching one horror movie I like and one I never saw before - Texas Chainsaw Massacre with Jessica Biel - and for the first time - original Halloween. Both were so scary especially Halloween - that fucker was always in the background!
