Mads Mikkelsen Appreciation

Mads Mikkelsen
November 22, 1965 (Østerbro, Copenhagen, Denmark)

I take my work enormously seriously. When I do something it has to feel right. Everything has to be right. I’m not ambitious about my career, but I am ambitious with each job. I can be fairly annoying to work with. No compromises. Let’s put it this way: compromises are from hell

Happy day today, 48th birthday of incredibly talented and gorgeous Mads Mikkelsen. He is a fantastic actor, though most people still only recognize him from his roles as villain in Casino Royle and his work in TV series Hannibal. In truth Mikkelsen can play any character - a romantic hero in A Royal Affair, prosecuted teacher in small village in The Hunt, silent warrior in Valhalla Rising and kooky priest in Adam's Apples.

I'm still keeping my fingers crossed for him to score nominations this Oscar season for his stellar wok in The Hunt, which still remains my choice for best performance by an actor in a leading role this year. He probably won't get in, as it's not as much about the quality of performance but the impact of Oscar campaign that matters, but his work in the movie was simply superb.

Mikkelsen infuses his performances with intense charisma and so much depth. He can be on screen for only several moments and you won't be able to forget him. Hopefully he will get to play many high profile roles which will show wide audience his incredible range.

  5. HAPPY BIRTHDAY BOYFRIEND!

I had to walk out of Michael Kohlhaas. As much as I love Mads, the film was going nowhere and he looked really haggard. I like him all Hannibal-ised and sexy and clean :P

He was so cute in En Kort En Lang. Dawwwwwww. Did not expect that from him but then again, he's an amazing actor.

I want to compose poems and dedicate them to his cheekbones.

  9. I hate the stupid smile I had on my face while reading this, but I can't help it. I mean, a dancer AND a knight? It's too much.
