(233) And GoT is back... + links

  • The Good Wife is such a mess right now it's unbelievable. I just watch JDM's scenes and fast forward the rest but that show has no plot. It's just pandering to Margulies to give her "emotional" moments. JDM is completely wasted other than being am eye candy. At least they're giving us all those delicious soundbites as you can see above.

Game of Thrones 6x01 The Red Woman

    By s. Monday, April 25, 2016 , 20 Comments
Like in any toxic relationship me and so many others are back for more abuse in this season of Game of Thrones.  Because again it's Stoneheart watch this year. For 4th fucking time. So as usual I'm looking for clues and feeding my hype. But this year my goodwill is over. I used to give them benefit of the doubt. When I witnessed Sansa first agreeing to marry Bolton and then getting raped I kept thinking all right maybe the writers have some purpose or at least good reasoning for it. Maybe there will be some pay off. There was none. So, now I'm just gonna call it as I see it.

The ending of The VVitch is one of the most stunning things you'll ever see

    By s. Sunday, April 24, 2016 , , , , , , , , , 25 Comments

I have been eagerly waiting for the movie since I first heard about it last year when the first news and rumors from Sundance started pouring in. I love the horror genre and movies about witches and there is really not enough of the latter. We have one half decent show on TV (Salem) and time and time again someone does new spin on The Crucible. But that's it. There are generic money grabbing uninspired spins on the witches, portrayals of modern witches which are incredibly insulting (how Wiccans were portrayed in season 4 of True Blood) or interesting concepts trapped in a meddled mess (AHS: Coven). So when I heard that there is honest to God (well...) good story out there about witches set in the most fascinating time you can possibly set a story like that in I couldn't wait.

  • Henry Cavill gave his 19 year old girlfriend a promise ring. I wonder what else he can do to become even less attractive. Kick a child? Say something overtly racist? Shit himself?

    Jeffrey Dean Morgan
April 22, 1966 (Seattle, Washington, USA)

Oh that voice. Those dimples. That smile. That fierce masculinity.

Today we are celebrating the 50th birthday of beautiful Jeffrey Dean Morgan who is on his way to steal your girl ALL of Norman Reedus and Andrew Lincoln's fangirls on The Walking Dead.

  • Reached season 4 of the show. Lori and Andrea are finally gone. Rick is slaughtering piglets, there is a feral woman in the woods who keeps her husband's zombiefied head, people are getting sick, Carol gets banished, there is some creepy little girl obsessed with killing...stuff got dark.
  • However comparing to my anxiety over dentist visit and actual visit this week this is fucking nothing. Every time I closed my eyes I heard the sound of a drill. I almost passed out in the waiting room. Then given that people say this is a civilized country but not really all I got was a local numbing and still yelled like insane. It was horrible. Then I was kinda high from anesthesia for like two hours, but not in a good way.

Hit Me with Your Best Shot: Witness

    By s. Tuesday, April 12, 2016 , 18 Comments
I wrote about Witness and Harrison Ford's great work in it not that long ago. The film is truly beautiful, seductive and ethereal. It is gorgeously shot by John Seale, who did last year's amazing cinematography for "Mad Max: Fury Road". Witness has so many gorgeous and striking shots, loaded with meaning - like the shot of Rachel's bonnet after she takes it off (symbolizing her choice that sadly gets a lot of its power taken away by the film's ending).

But there is one particular shot in the film that shows something I wanted to write about:

Is it time for Red Wedding 2.0? Watch the new trailer for Game of Thrones season 6

    By s. Monday, April 11, 2016 , , 10 Comments
Well....hype? Trailer 2 for Game of Thrones season 6 just dropped and the above image featuring the long time no see Walder Frey seem to suggest that the event so many book readers have speculated will happen. Red Wedding 2.0 - only this time with the Freys dying in a massacre - is coming.

Some cool stuff I noticed in new Suicide Squad trailer

    By s. , 12 Comments

Two good things came out of MTV Movie Awards last night - Charlize Theron was awarded the trophy for Best Actress for her work as Furiosa in Fury Road (if we lived in the better world she would have also got Academy Award for that one) and new Suicide Squad trailer premiered, loaded with yet again great song choices and awesome footage.

  • Of course with typical Morgan's luck while he did nothing wrong (what he did was in fact terrific) everything turned into shitstorm. People praised his performance and not much else. That's because the showrunners made asinine decision to switch point of view to the victim so instead of delivering TWD's own Red Wedding kind of scene we got annoying cliffhanger. In turn the whole talk about how idiotic it was overshadowed the talk of JDM's awesome work. I am motherfucking livid here.

    (229) Are you ready for this? + links

  • I am not up to date with The Walking Dead at all. I rewatched season 1 last week and slowly make my way through the rest, but I know enough from reading about it over the years not to be completely lost. He is just gonna be in one scene this year but then he is gonna be a regular next season. It's such a great role for him - he plays main antagonist Negan who has a baseball bat which he nicknamed Lucille wrapped in barb wire and he smashes people's heads with it. But he is also, apparently, very funny and an iconic character for the fans of the graphic novels. And that scene he has this Sunday is probably the biggest one in the show yet. So I am super psyched that things are finally happening for JDM because man, we waited a long time for this.
  • Honestly though I love The Walking Dead fanbase on tumblr, at least when it comes to blogs I follow - those (1, 2) really made me laugh.
