The trailer for "The Witch" is finally here!

By s. Wednesday, August 19, 2015 ,
Oh my! How long I waited - ever since the movie premiered at Sundance and got amazing reviews it has become my most anticipated film to come. But then the rights went to A24, which is so bad at marketing movies, and then it was a chain of more disappointments - months without screenings, no new reviews, no trailer or even a poster.

Well, it's finally here, both the trailer and the poster for the film! The release is set vaguely for 2016, so it's still a long wait but something tells me it will be worth it.

New England, 1630: William and Katherine lead a devout Christian life, homesteading on the edge of an impassible wilderness, with five children. When their newborn son mysteriously vanishes and their crops fail, the family begins to turn on one another. In his debut feature, writer/director Robert Eggers painstakingly designs an authentic re- creation of New England -- generations before the 1692 trials in Salem -- evoking the alluring and terrifying power of the timeless witch myth. Told through the eyes of Thomasin, the teenage daughter (in a star-making performance by Anya Taylor-Joy), and supported by haunting camera work and an ominous score, The Witch is a chilling portrait of a family unraveling within their own fears and anxieties, leaving them prey for an inescapable evil.

  1. That looks terrifying! I'm happy for you that these are here (and that poster is...unnerving) since I know you're waiting for this one with baited breath.

I'm loving the use of the V V instead of a W. Like...that alone is rather chilling.
