Let the festivites begin in new trailer for Ari Aster's Midsommar

By s. Tuesday, May 14, 2019 , ,
On the heels of releasing a gorgeous poster, A24 has graciously made sure I won't get anything done today - other than making countless gifs - by releasing a great new trailer for Midsommar.

The trailer is impressively spoilerfree and unless you know the story it's pretty much impossible to guess what happens just based on the promo. Midsommar follows Dani (Florence Pugh) who recently experienced an unimaginable tragedy and is in a really bad place. Her boyfriend reluctantly invites her to a trip to Sweden, in order to take part in traditional midsummer festivities their friend wants to introduce them to. As Dani's sanity worsens, things around her start taking more and more sinister turn.

Midsommar premieres on July 3rd.

  1. Can't wait for this! I'm especially glad it has such a strong connection to Sweden because it feels closer to me somehow.. the vibe is very Estonian in the way so it will feel like it could happen to us! Love the tone of the film too, very bright while very scary? Brilliant.

    1. I'm not sure if it's a good thing it could happen in Estonia :D The sights there are gorgeous, though!

    2. Nah, but like.. having things culturally more close to you makes it scarier. I think. But we'll see. Getting more excited for this every day. :D

    3. I feel like our countries have really rich legends and folk stories etc. and Hollywood never uses those, maybe Midsommar makes them look into that

  2. Damn this looks intense. I'll have to watch Hereditary first though.

  3. This trailer is wonderful. I'm probably going to avoid the script for this one too so I can be surprised.

  5. I never watch trailers but the way you described it convinced me. I don't even know the synopsis for the film so that trailer was awesome. Parts of it reminded me of the original Wicker Man, dunno why. But it looks awesome, and how cool is it that Ari is making this a year after Hereditary!! Can't wait to see it, the music just from the trailer creeped me out, can't wait to hear the score.

BTW I dig the font change! I'm still trying to find one I like but there isn't much to choose from on wordpress =/

    1. Thank you! It's from google fonts. Huh, I thought wordpress had more options, the templates there are much better than on blogger, pretty much everything you see on my website I had to design myself because the choices they provide are so crappy

  6. Oh really? I'll have to dig more cos I have really limited font options, I think you need to pay more to have more options to design your page, which is lame. I wish I could find a font on google and just somehow insert it into my headers, there must be a way
