Sarah Jessica Parker... Horseface?
ReplyDeleteOh come on. You can do better than that.
I saw The Life of David Gale.... it sucked. Spacey was the only thing in that film worth watching and the ending ruined the entire film for me.
If you mean in terms of calling her appearance for what it is I guess I can - by quoting South Park 'a transvestite donkey'. I saw Sex and the City 2 on the big screen. It was a nightmare with all the close ups.
DeleteThe ending was kinda the point of the whole movie, but that's cool. And I thought Linney was much better than Spacey there.
They really should stop cutting to the other nominees when the winner is announced.
ReplyDeleteI think it's hilarious. These people are actors - they should act classy when they lose - Amy Adams for example, she is always so composed. The funniest thing in the award shows is showing the losers, Bill Murrey losing his Oscar is legendary moment.
DeleteOh no...they must NEVER stop doing that! O. Russell's reaction was the single greatest moment in my awards watching history!!!
DeleteIt was hilarious, wasn't it?:D
DeleteI love Russell's reaction shot.
ReplyDeleteI laughed out loud when I saw it, he was disgusted :D
DeleteThat shot of Russell is brilliant! Glad to see someone not having a fake smile for once. Lawrence doesn't look overly pleased; I'm wondering, with Weinstein there in particular, if they thought she was nailed on for it.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure they thought she will win, I think everyone did. BAFTAs are cooky sometimes, but with the age of Academy members I think it's fair to assume that Riva may take that Oscar from Lawrence.
DeleteMeh, I predicted the Riva upset with BAFTA (as did most people on the awardsdailyforums) because it felt so BAFTA, but BAFTA was a bone thrown to an actress with a critically lauded performance that AMPAS would NEVER award when the current 'it girl' is winning everything else. BAFTA means nothing if you have the SAG and the Globe and three BFCA's. I mean, let's face it...if the BFCAs hadn't gone all MTV movie awards and given Lawrence an award for Comedic and Action performance (as well as ensemble) then she would have beaten Chastain there as well. Riva has a chance, but it's like a 2% chance.
DeleteI don't know Chastain has plenty of awards, but Riva is a dark horse. I just don't feel Lawrence will win, but mostly I just don't care as neither of my 3 favorite movies of the year got any nominations this year :)
DeleteRiva could very easily win, it's just a matter of whether Chastain and Lawrence will split the vote.
DeleteThat's a good point!
DeleteThose reaction shots are priceless.
ReplyDeleteI think it's really interesting that Lincoln was the odds-on favorite to win Best Picture, but now Argo is generating all the buzz. It wasn't my favorite of the year, but I wouldn't complain if it won.
Great recap, Sati!
Thanks! I never felt the vibe Lincoln would win, it's astonishing to me that apparently it was a front runner at one point. I felt SLP will win but now Argo is winning for sure, which is cool - I liked it a lot.
DeleteStephen Fry was an awesome host, and Billy Connolly was hilarious.
ReplyDeleteHaha. Lawrence and Russell's reactions might be my favorite part of the show. If Lawrence loses at the Oscars, I hope they show their reactions.
I really wish they showed Weinstein's face too. That couldn't be pretty :P
DeleteWow, those reaction shots, really? It annoys me so much that they couldn't have been genuinely happy for Riva (I don't remember - did you see Amour?) I mean, yes, being disappointed when you lose is natural I guess, but really....
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen Amour yet.
DeleteYeah I would think of all people actors should at least know to act happy.
thanks for posting this. hadn't seen any major coverage for the BAFTAs.
ReplyDeleteGreat BAFTA coverage Sati! Oy, those dresses are nightmarish indeed. What was Gemma thinking??! It made me dizzy! Ooooh Henryyyyy!! "I don't think any man on Earth would like to present an award with Henry Cavill - you have to stand next to him" Ahahaha... your comment made me laugh, so true isn't it... he's an Adonis, but Martin is adorable!
ReplyDeleteO.Russell's expression should be a meme, it's just hilarious!!
Thank you! Henry is so yummy :P
DeleteI'm pretty sure it will be, though grumpy Tommy Lee is still the winner :P
All awards shows should be like the BAFTAs. They're one of the few that are actually fun to watch. The speeches are usually kept short. There are no spurious random awards. And the right people win. Stephen Fry should be hosting all awards. So glad he was back.
ReplyDeleteI agree, they are so much fun! I love how even when the speeches are long there is no way music will cut anyone off - very respectful.
Deletehahahahahahaha hadn't noticed O Russel's reaction! Beauuuuutiful and similar to my own actually. Fry was great wasn't he? And whovever put Cavill and Freeman together was having a laugh!
ReplyDeleteIt was so funny :D Fry is awesome, I love it whenever he hosts the show.
Deletereally enjoyed reading this post, since i missed actually watching it. Love David O Russell's reaction and your comment about JQ looking more like Satan ;-)
ReplyDeleteThanks! Phoenix looks insane and it's getting worse and worse :)
DeleteI like David O. Russell's reaction. I do feel now that Argo will take home Best Picture.
ReplyDeleteI think Argo is definitely winning.
DeleteSo glad Juno Temple won - good for her! O.Russel's face was priceless. I thought Amy Adams looked lovely.
ReplyDeleteAdams always looks so beautiful, she has the most amazing dresses.
